so the first time i read "The Secret" Rhonda Byrne, i was making some positive improvements in my life, i ended up losing 10lbs without really making any major changes other than how i thought about my own body and my own goals.

applying points from The Secret into my life helped me find a great man and more overall peace.

have any of you read/used The Secret?

Isn't it a scam?

not at all. a scam would be if it told you to buy something or spend energy in ways that would benefit the sellers of the book. i paid $7 for the book is all. after reading it i would pay much more. it doesnt suggest paying any money for anything at all. what it does do is suggests ways to change your view on things in your life in a way that will help you acheive what you want in life.
mostly by thinking positively and visualizing yourself with the things you seek. it has lots of professional references and is really easy to read.

My sister applied ideas learned from the secret and lost 70 pounds. She was also working full time, going to school full time and had 2 kids. I think that may have had a little to do with it, but she had been doing those 3 things when she was 70 pounds heavier.

I didn't read the whole thing. The thing that bothered me about it is the idea that if you think bad thoughts, those bad things will happen. I mean, I do think that there is something to that. But, I don't think people can cure themselves of pancreatic cancer with the powder of positive thought, and I doubt their negative thoughts made it happen.

Nevertheless, I agree that positive thinking is important and negative thinking is a detriment. However, I don't think there really is a universal law of attractions. That concept seemed very "Oral Roberts" to me.
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

I love it, I need to reread it. It made me a believer of the law of attraction, and even though I don't always apply it to me life (negative thinking is sooooo deeply ingrained!) I do remind people about it sometimes. Like someone who says, "This is going to be the worst day ever!" at the begining of the day, I'll say, "Yep. If you think that, it sure will be!"

I gather there's a follow up as well, but The Times (London) didn't like it much, saying it was much the same as The Secret and a waste of money.

Yes, it's called "The Power" and I haven't read it yet.

I liked The Secret too. Now I'm trying a hypnosis download on weight loss before falling asleep at night. Only 2 nights, but I am eating healthy.
