Hey Guys.
I seem to have a tough time getting my body toned.
I've already been weight training in the gym and going to kick boxing classes three times a week for 2 month now, but I'm not getting the results I want.
I've heard about the P90x andinsanity program and was wondering if anyone here has tried them? Which one is better? and if it's worth investing the money and purchasing the DVDs?Smile

My good friend has been exercising every day for years at the gym, with a trainer etc. She bought the P90x dvd's and now she does not have a gym membership. she is hooked on the dvd's and swears by the workouts. She loves the variety in them as well. Good luck. She says they are worth every penny! Hope that helps.

P90x is the bomb - i also cancelled my gym membership. you do need about $100 worth of weight stuff to do the videos properly. Buy it on craigs list 1/2 price.
I have lost 25lbs and my buddy 32lbs.

Patience grasshopper......... 2 months is nothing. Success will come if you work hard. And whatever you do, don't compare what yourself to the people you see in the P90X and Insanity infomercials. These programs are very good, but the infomercial "stars" are exceptions.

That being said, after 2 months your clothes should fit different. And if you haven't already, start taking photos.

These DVD's (either) with work if you stick with it and follow the instruction. The one limitation I would caution you on is make sure you have room to use them. It looks like you need a very small bit of space, but think about where you would do these workouts and try simple moves there before you invest. Sometimes the best thing about the gym is the open space. Good Luck!

P90X is Great. I took my before and after pictures and the difference was incredible. Great investment, need some space for the exercieses, but nothing drastic. Still... a great investment in your health.

If you want to get lean and toned I'd go with Insanity!

I just started the P90 program this morning and I feel great and full of energy. Although I'm not sure if I should lose the fat first and then start the program or if it will help me lose fat and sculpt up... I'm at 180lbs now and would like to get to 135lbs. any advice is appreciated.

You can do both! The cardio will help you lose over all fat, but you want to do some kind of strengh training to help firm you up.

I have done both and love them both. I find Tony Horton to be a modern day Richard Simmons though. Sean T is not a cheerleader per say.

I am with dja1000, started P90X February 8th. Started at 246lbs. and I am down to 212lbs. as of today. Just watching calories, between 2000-2300. It is like having your very own personal trainer.

I would definitely recommend P90X. Some of the exercises might seem hard to start with, but you really get into it after a couple of weeks. The exercises tend to require more strength than the exercises in Insanity (at least on some of the days). That in mind, there is still quite a lot of cardio in P90X program. What you want is a combination of strength training and cardio to get toned.
I found Tony to be much better (than Shaun T from Insanity) at explaining the techniques and he's also entertaining. You will find yourself memorizing what he says.
Also, just like with any fitness program, to make it work you have to get the right diet. I don't remember who said this, but "Being fit is like riding a bicycle. One of your wheels is your exercise and the other is your diet." You won't get far without one of the wheels. Get a nutritionist. I got only 2 sessions with mine and that helped me a tremendously.

Thank you guys for all the wonderful comments.
Actually I'm 120 lbs and 5'4". I don't really want to lose much weight, I'm just looking to get toned. And I wanna be able to go to my kick boxing classes as well.
So the majority of people here say I should go with P90x?But doesn't that require you to work out everyday?

I did P90X, completed the 13 weeks...worked out 6 days a week. I lost 18.5 inches and 15 lbs. I am now doing INSANITY and I must say that I miss P90X. I am on week 3 of INSANITY, but not seeing the same results that I saw doing P90X. Actually, they both require you to commit to at least 6 days a week.
