Hi! I am looking for a diet buddy with the same goals as me. I'm already pretty thin at 140 lb, but facing so much frustration trying to loose the fifteen lb I packed on over the last year with work and school. I'd love to have someone to talk to who has the same frustration of how hard it is to loose weight when you are already thin.

I wouldn't say I'm thin exactly, but I was very surprised to learn that my BMI said I was overweight, when I felt I looked pretty average. It's been a bit hard to find real support from my friends and family because they think I LOOK fine, so I must be healthy.
In general it is harder to lose weight the thinner you are to begin with because each pound is a higher percentage of your total weight, so in essence you're losing more of yourself.

Exactly on the loosing weight being sooo hard! Being thin means u burn so many less calories than someone who is heavier. And I have dieted with a friend who was heavier before, and she would loose up to 5 lb a week, when I could only loose less than an lb a week, so frustrating. I'm in my healthy weight range, but just barely, but I have the same experience with everyone telling me I don't need to loose weight, and I would just like to look a little better, and gain control of it, instead of letting it get to a place where its out of hand.

Hi, So good to know I'm not alone in this.
I like the idea of buddy-ing up. How to go about it?
I hovered at between 137 and 139 for a while and became very frustrated and demoralised.
Like you, I am not obese but am far from my IDEAL weight. I'm 5'1" and have a very small frame so my ideal weight is between 105 and 112 lbs.
I don't think I'll ever get there (because of my primal blueprint) but would like to get below 120, at least.
Am also fed up of people saying I don't need to lose weight when I know how awful I look in the mirror.

I'm not skinny (yet, lol) but I sent you a buddy request anyway because I believe we should all do what it takes to be happy with our bodies and I especially support losing weight BEFORE you gain any more! Man, I wish I had! I'd never tell someone they are silly for wanting to lose 10 pounds or 5 or even 2! It's all about what makes you feel best about yourself. The thinner you are, the harder it is to lose weight. I can tell you that it was pretty easy at almost 300 pounds and it's getting harder and harder as I get closer to my goal. It must be really hard to try to go from 140 to 125! Best luck to you!

aw, maggie, i am sure u dont look horrible... but i do get tired of people getting down on you trying to look your personal best and feel your best... you may not NEED to loose weight, i hate when ppl come with that attitude, but you would like to, and it would make you feel better, people shouldn't be down on that either. and sometimes u need encouragement that it isnt a waste of time.
k8.... i definitely admire your drive, and that u have realized dieting is not a week or month long pursuit, and would love to have someone remind me of that, my family has a predisposition to being overweight and ive seen my mother go from 150 lb to 230 in my lifetime, and i have struggled with yo yoing from eating hardly anything to just eating whatever i want, i would really love to get myself on a path where i can just regularly keep good habits, but let myself splurge when i need to. And serious props on loosing almost ninety pounds!

Yes, I know how hard it is! I'm 5'2" and started this at about 126 and want to get down to 105. I don't think it's possible for me to get there anymore. Back in the day I was always around 100, but now it's harder to get there! I'll be happy if I hit 110 and will ease up there and if I go lower, great.

I'm at a healthy weight for my height and age, but I'd LOVE to slim down.. My body type is pretty curvy, and with any extra weight, I feel like I look chunky. I'd LOVE to be 145 (that's where I was during my freshman year of college). THat's my goal. I felt so much healthier and more confident back then!! It's amazing what can happen in two years.
I need some buddies!! just started the site today, so pleassee help

Hi!! I'm in the same position. I am at a healthy weight now although I did struggle a few years ago with my weight. In the last 6.5 years I have lost (and maintained a loss) of almost 60 pounds. I am fairly happy with my weight where it is but I would like to get to 125. I am at 135 right now.
The real driving force for me right now is in trying to stay accountable for what I eat. I recently quit smoking (almost 6 weeks smoke-free!!) and I'm desperately afraid of gaining weight. I worked so hard to lose the weight in the first place and the idea of gaining it back because I've made a choice to be healthier is not .
I know if I focus on it hard enough I'll succeed but it sure would be helpful to buddy up with some folks while I'm doing it
Plus...losing the last 10 pounds I'd like to lose would be a huge bonus!!

I know exactly where you are coming from! I am 130.5 right now, and I want to get down to 122. That is my goal weight, but I do not know when that is going to happen... I want it soon, but I am afraid I have messed up my metabolism. I'm just gonna keep watching my calorie intake and hope I get there in a month and a half...

I read this post and I couldn't believe there were so many people feeling the same way I do. I am 5'3" and have always been petite but recently I have put on 10-15 lbs that I'm desperate to lose by mid summer. The shorter you are, the more obvious the weight. I love this post and I definitely need some buddies to help me stick to a good diet and reach my goal. I joined the challenge "Lose 11lbs in May" in hopes of reaching my goal. Anyone interested in joining with me?

Hi,
This is a great thread. I agree that it really is very individual. I am very petite at just a hair over 5ft and even 1-2 lbs makes a bit difference and is visible. Geez, I wish I was taller... I'm looking to lose another 3-4lbs which is so hard based on where I am now. I'm happy to buddy up and help motivate while others help me.

Hi everyone,
I love this thread. Maggie, I'm very similar to you. I'm 5'1 and somehow got up to 137 lbs, which is the heaviest I've ever been. I've seen the genetics at work in women on both sides of my family and I want to get ahead of this before it becomes near impossible.
It can be really frustrating to be petite and trying to lose weight. My boyfriend is 6-feet tall and 330 lbs, and his calorie burn on activities we do together makes mine look pathetic. I just started this site a couple days ago, and I hope to get to my goal of 120 by August - just in time to start law school!
I've seen my mom go through several 'fad' diets - cabbage soup diets, atkins, more cabbage soup, and now she's on NutriSystem. All my life she had a very unhealthy relationship with food, which would just lead to binge eating and then not eating for days. At this point her metabolism is shot (NutriSystem is working wonders, but it creates a dependence that most people can't keep up once they stop ordering the food). I DO NOT want to be that women who can only talk about how fat she looks in pictures and how horrible everything looks on her. Just committing to losing weight and acting on it has already made me feel better about myself and more confident. We're all in this together - we can do it!!

i am so glad so many people on here seem to know what i'm going through, tho it's funny to me how many of u who are petite have answered, i'm 5'9, trust me, it doesnt make it any easier to loose those last five lb.
katydid- That is so funny, i remember my mom on that cabbage soup diet and the grapefruit "diet" (basically starvation with grapefruit, lol) and have seen how much good that did. Hopefully i can find some balance and avoid all that silliness.

This is a great thread! I've felt this way for years. I am 5'2" and at my heaviest weighed 172. I now stick around 140ish. It's hard to lose weight when you are fairly average. I'd love to have some buddies on the site!

It seems like a lot of you are exactly where I am right now. I'm 5'2 and around 135-140, so not really big, but feeling somewhat pudgy and I want to get down to around 115-120! I'd also love to have some buddies on this site! Anyone/everyone want to group up for some group motivation?

I saw this thread while looking for buddies who are in the same place that I am. I too am at a healthy BMI (although I recently hit the high end of it), but am struggling to lose 10-15 lbs. I'm 5'6'' and have a really small frame. I used to be very athletic but a heavy work schedule with a lot of stress (turning 30 probably didn't help either) caused me to stop working out and replace all of my muscle with fat. I never used to be a stress eater but now when something goes wrong all I want is CHOCOLATE! I have gone up and down with the dieting/exercise and I'm hoping having diet buddies will keep me motivated. I sent a buddy request to klbarcaskey since she started the post but would welcome request from others here!

I'm glad to see other people in the same boat as me. Last year I weighed 152 pounds. At 5'4", that wasn't huge, but I suddenly realized that I was inching closer to 200 pounds than to 100 pounds. I still wore a size 9, so I didn't think I was a big girl by any stretch. I was a store manager of a clothing store that sold regular and plus size clothing, so I figured that if I wasn't even near the plus sizes yet, I was fine. Since last year, I have lost 24 pounds, but still have 8 more to go to get to my goal weight. All of my friends think I'm crazy. They say that every woman would love to have my body. I guess we're always so critical of ourselves and we see things other people don't. Having some support from people who are in the same position I am would be great. I could use some motivation from people who understand. Feel free to add me as a buddy. Good luck everyone!!

I am in the same boat! I have 13lbs to lose, I had lost 3 but then went on vacation and didn't make great decisions with restaurant food choices. I have people telling me I'm crazy, but I also have a closet full of clothes that do not fit as they should. I'm 5'7" and am determined to get back down to 120 lbs.
