For general fitness/weight loss, it really doesn't matter too much. This is one of those times where I think many people can't see the forest for all the trees. It's a small issue that people can get a bit too focused on at times.
The only examples I can think off where people need to get picky with this are endurance athletes (for glycogen storage) and bodybuilders (for protein synthesis). For what it's worth, I've seen studies showing that chocolate milk was pretty much the perfect food to consume post-workout, but I don't recommend people drink chocolate milk for general weight loss.
If you're already eating a fairly balanced diet, you don't necessarily need to do anything extra.
