carbs are supposed to be higher. granted not a huge amount higher...but a decent amount. it depends on if you are doing a low carb diet, but carbs are needed to help burn fat.

Unless you are doing atkins or a similar low carb diet (see, this is me staying neutral!) your carbs should be higher. and when you look at carbs, remember that they include dietary fiber (like whats in all vegetables) and that is what keeps you feeling fuller longer, is not digested, keeps your system moving nicely, and will keep you from starving and binge eating. Those are the carbs you want. If all of your carbs are sugar, then maybe you want to look at what carbs you are eating. theres a lot of posts on the forum about the balance between carbs/fat/protein, and i am in no way an expert, so please read up on all the information available, but carbs (in general) are good!

Normal. I don't think it matters much. Higher carb is ok, higher fat is ok. As long as you stay in your calorie range you should do fine. Just get a good balance and make sure you get enough protein and everything else will probably fall into place.

I don't think I've had many days the whole time I've been doing this where my carbohydrates weren't the highest percentage.

Well, you're eating a lot of foods high in fat (like that egg mcmuffin). You need to cut those out. You're also lacking protein.

I checked your food logs and you're definitely not following the diet you have as your plan. Smile

Unfortunately it isn't always as easy of "yes" or "no" and it comes down to what no one want to hear "it depends completely on the individual"...I know a frustrating answer, but take me for instance, I took a calorie intake test with the nutritionist at the gym and it determined that I am 81% deficiant as storing carbs as fat. So for me (currently 185lbs) the nutritionist lowered my calorie intake to 1,300 - 1,500 calories (never going under 1,150) and of this 1,300 I have to have 38% of my diet from carbs and 38% from protein...if you take a look at my food journal I am finding this next to impossible to do! But I am working on it everyday to find the "magic combination" that will get me on track!

Ok, so this was a long winded post, but I guess the bottom line is if you aren't seeing any movement, then one of the best things to try is shifting your carb to protein ratio! GOOD LUCK!

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...
