Hi, I need a good recommendation for an electronic counter top food scale. Batteries vs adapters, ones you know DON'T work well, lowest price etc. Thanks!

I'm just curious...sorry, I'm new to this stuff. What is the purpose of a food scale?

I have this one and it is AWESOME. It has helped me so much. Completely worth the price, very easy to use.
Soehnle Futura Digital Scale
jlscalese, the purpose is to measure portion sizes. You can do this by volume also for many things (1/2 cup of rice, etc) but for many things that is not practical.
I freaking love this scale, it has changed my life. No, really! I now know exactly what a serving of pasta looks like.
Things I'd look for if you look at other scales:
Digital read out
Tare function (so you can zero it out with a bowl or plate on it)
Measures in ounces and grams. Some packaging only lists one or the other. It really helps to be able to use either.

Yes, I was guessing for 3/4 of the year. When I finally got the scale, I realized I had been underestimating on some things (one serving of pasta or rice was about 1/2 the size I thought) and overestimating on other things (one serving of ground turkey was about twice as much as I thought!)
Wait until you see what one ounce of cheese looks like
Once I saw that, I realized why I got so fat to begin with, lol!

I love the newest weight watchers scale. It allows you to put a piece of fruit on it and type in the fruit and it will determine based on the weight what the points are for the fruit; something that I've given less points in the past.

There is a Biggest Loser scale that has the tare, the digital read out, multiple measurements and it has the nutritional information for like 900 foods.

Fruit
Can you do yogurt? A friend recommended to me plain yogurt with splenda mixed in. Maybe try that with some berries. I've been putting frozen raspberries in my protein shake.
