Does anybody have some suggestions for cutting my sodium? I'm gonna lay off my guilty snack- beef jerky. But anybody know of sandwich meat that is low sodium? Or any other low sodium suggestions? Thanks!

Yea noticed I had the same problem a while back. Wanted to get the protein in so was snacking on beef jerky , lean lunch meats and such, then noticed my sodium daily was through the roof. Since , have been buying fish , and whole chickens (or skinless tenders), grilling or boiling at the beginning of the week. Then eating on it , for snack time through out the week. That way I can get the protein but not the sodium. Could do the same with turkey of course. Another thing I do, if i have that craving for something crunchy is air pop my own pop corn, then I can spray with some of that pam evoo and a dash of salt instead of buying those bags that are full of crap. Hope this helps or atleast gives you a little more ideas ;o))
btw info, LOVE those links

If you want to go low sodium I'd stay away from sandwiches for awhile... just a few slices of turkey for instance hits around 500mg of sodium (some brands are more/less!) so if you add a slice of cheese or 2 and some bread, mayo (and can't forget the pickle), you could already have half your days worth of salt!

For sandwiches, you're better off sticking with 2T of peanut butter.

This may sound simple (but is not), but just getting in the habit of reading every label in a particular food section will help, e.g. read all the salami labels - you will find that some brands really overdo it (usually the cheaper ones - i do not know why??).
Just log everything you eat and you will get through it. I basically managed to cut from 4500+ to 2000-, on most days.

Be mindful of the amount of servings listed on labels. Even as a low-sodium product, if the label indicates the package contains 4 servings(for example), then you'll be digesting 4 times the amount of sodium listed on the box if you eat the whole thing. Also, pretty much all types of animal products (beef, poultry, dairy, seafood) contain sodium and cholesterol, so choose sparingly.

So frustrated!
8 pounds in a month is pretty great. That is 2 pounds per week. That is the far-end of the range of what you can leave and keep it off.
