I have not been doing well. I tried to get back on program when I got back from the beach but never really did. I did for a while, actually lost what I had gain, but now have gained some of it back. I guess I could have done worse so I'm not going to beat myself up.

Yesterday, my daughter and I went to Monticello. It was extremely hot. We walked from the visitors center to the house. It was uphill. I felt like I was going to pass out. It made me think alot. There was a time, even when I was not at my healthiest weight, but about 40 lbs less than I am now, when I used to go hiking in the Shenandoah. It used to take hills pretty easily.

My daughter got really nervous and stressed watchig me struggle. I know it scares her. The thought that something will happen to me because I'm not taking care of myself.

So, I getting back on Fatsecret because it's the only time I'm successful. It makes me accountable to myself, if no one else. I hate feeling so awful. I know it depresses me, and then I eat to make myself feel better, only to feel worse. We all know the story. We all share it.

Losing weight for your family is a motivator! Since I had my daughter, i've been motivated to get down to a weight 15lbs lighter than I was prepreg! I do it for her.

I think the hardest part of losing weight is that I use eating to soothe myself emotionally and almost get scared of not having this pacifier. But, I also know I used to do this with smoking and I tried repeatedly to quit. So, I remind myself that if I keep trying, I will be successful. I hope you hang in there, too. It gets frustrating and discouraging when we slip - I don't have any words of advice but please, do just hang in there.

Hang in there, MalaMala. We all go through periods when we have a harder time sticking to healthy eating, but if you come back and seek out support, you know you are still on the right track. Even if the track is a little wavy sometimes. Wink

FS is a fantastic tool, and I'm sure you'll have success if you keep on using it. I know of a few other free forums that you might enjoy in conjunction with FS, so if you'd like to hear about them just shoot me a message. I don't like talking about it in the threads too often because I don't want anyone to think I'm discouraging them from coming here. I come here but I also use other sites, and the support I've gotten from all of them has been invaluable.

Good luck, and hang in there!

It's been two weeks since you posted that you're looking for support and encouragement to get re-started. I hope you've found it. Here's some more - someone posted here on FS that "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". I love that. That little ditty will help me stay on track. Another site I use is Slim-fast.com , not slim-fast products, but their online community. I get great advice from buddies there. Some of my favorites: the good thing about dieting is that you can never fail. If you mess up, you just start over. So, whenever you're ready, just start over. Another one is to not fret about that pound you didn't lose this week or this month,; think about the pounds you lost in the last year - if you lose a pound every other week, you lose 25 pounds in a year. I see you lost 12 pounds - that's terrific.

I love my Wii fit. It's been a big help for me. And, if you have kids, they will love it too. Mine play it all the time and it's great way to keep THEIR activity up during the winter months.
