[i]Hi,
I am new (2 Days) and would like to find some diet buddies. I am trying to do this on my own (1200 cal) per day and have about 70 lbs. to lose. Would be grateful for any help & advise I can get & hopefully be able to contribute to others as well. I have up & down this road soooooooooooo many times. I am sick of it and want to get this weight off permanently. Oh by the way I am 49 years old and female. Thanks so much to any who respond. Have a wonderful day.

I have only been on here a little over a week... and I, too, am looking for diet support buddies. I started losing weight about 3 months ago and have lost 25 pounds. I want to lose at least another 50- 75 more. I am a 40 year old female... married for 18 years and have 3 young children (10, 7, and 5 years old). I let my weight creep up on me when I started having kids. All my life I was always thin and I am determined to lose this weight! The last 3 months I have been eating around 1800 calories a day and exercising, but have hit a plateau and yesterday went to a calorie intake of 1200 - 1300 a day and I have uped my exercise routine. Maybe we can conquer this weight loss journey together and be a support system through the ups and downs!

Hi guys,
I am new to this also. I am 39 years old and a mother of 8. I recently started my dieting in February and have lost 25lbs to date. I sometimes find it hard to stay on track and just so want to give up at times. I love to do outdoor things but find it hard with my weight to do so. My husband bought me the Wii and I love it. I am exercising more and at my own pace but still find days when I just want to give it all up and go back to enjoying all the things I did before. Hoping you don't mind me becoming a buddy also. Support is a great thing I find

Hi to you all and welcome. I would love to have you all as my buddies. I created a challenge that will start on Friday for those who want some support getting into exercising. Please join the BELOW-THE-BELT MAKEOVER challenge if you are interested.

Hello and welcome. This is a great site and a wonderful resource.
Gottaget, I would just say that shooting for a 1200/day calorie level might not make sense for you depending on your stats and your activity level. One of the things that hurts a lot of people is not eating ENOUGH calories.
Here is a great calculator:
http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-goal.php
You'll see food entries like this: an orange for breakfast, a low cal sugary processed yogurt here, a low carb "health" bar there, a salad for dinner. It's just not sustainable.
If you're not eating enough food, you'll no doubut see an initial loss, but the danger is you;ll eventually get hungry and you'll binge and you'll feel bad and you'll get back into a cycle of guilt/bad feelings/overeating/overeating more to punish yourself. And your metabolism will have slowed down to compensate for the low cals you've been eating so the weight will come back with a vengeance. This is how most of us got where we are now.
Eat enough healthy, unprocessed food and you'll get where you want to be faster and with less effort! I've lost almost 20 lbs in the last 2 mos eating prob an average of 1500-1600 cals a day, often more.
This site is really great for support and motivation. You can all do it. Stay positive and focus on what you're doing right. If something's working, keep doing it. If it's not, then stop. Start with small goals. Make smaller changes instead of focusing on a big far-off goal. If you build good habits and self-confidence, you'll get there!

Vegan Buddy???
I'm veggie but not vegan. And I'm on Atkins! Brave or slightly over-optimistic - not sure! - but hey it works, and works very well.
