I don`t need trainers and stuff like that. I need to lose about 20 pounds, as soon as possible. I need some advice from people who had the same problems and managed to lose weight. I want to start a fitness program and I would love some useful ideas. Thanks people! Exclamation

Hey! Do you have a dog? Cause if you do, then you should take it for a run in the morning. I do that with my dog. It`s healthy for both of you! If you`re not a pet-lover, I`m sure you can find some help from the community at Project Weight Loss. You`ll find there many friends willing to help and support you, it`s a large community, like a MySpace for people who need to lose weight. You also have there the weight loss tools you need when you`re ready to start a weight loss program: a calorie counter, a diet and fitness planner, and weight charts that show you when you`re over/under the calorie limit you need to stick to. I`ve been a member there for a few months now and this really helped me (besides the dog- by the way: Thanks Skip). Take care! Wink

walking is a great and free way to lose weight, as you get fittet]r you can alternate walking and running to get longer times and burn more calories. I find running the fastest way to drop weight! You can get some good exercise tapes from your library so that won't cost you anything so you can try them and see which ones work for you.

Ok heres my fitness advice. Switch from processed foods to non processed foods. I had a trainer like 5 years ago, he was great by the way I lost about 20 lbs in one month, and he taught me about how processed foods and sugar were created not very long ago, but that fresh fruits and veggies and meats have been around forever. SO try to stick to those foods, your body will love them!!! As far as exercise, whenever people ask me how to get motivated to work out i tell them, pick your favorite songs or maybe get some new ones that you can get "excited" about listening to, and only allow yourself to listen to them while working out. Cardio is very important for weight loss, but so is weight training. If you dont know ho to weight train, go to you library. There are so many books that show what exercises to do for each body part, and the best part is most of them show how to do them at the gym machines, or with your own weights so there are no excuses!!!! You can even search online there are alot of sites to instruct you. Hope it helps!

Because the winter months throw off my outdoor fitness routine, I've been keeping fit indoors with the Biggest Loser fitness DVD's. The segments are short, you select which ones you want to do and they are quite effective in a really small amount of time. The other equation is to eat healthy foods and monitor how much you eat. Fitness & nutrition go hand-in-hand.

What kind of exercise do they have you do?

Hi, Chelly. Biggest Loser fitness DVD's provides all types of exercises.

"Volume II" has a variety you can mix from kickboxing-type moves (15 min. - "killer segment for thighs and butt) + other cardio segments; bootcamp and stability and medicine ball segments [I'm not familiar with these ones yet]. It's divided in separate sessions for men and women. Kim Lyons is one of the trainers on this one.

"Bootcamp" DVD with Bob has Levels I, II, and III which totally works both upper and lower body all at once which leaves you very sweaty at the end [I'm still at Level I for now].

Jillian's 30-Day Shred DVD has a 3-2-1 mix [3 minutes strength; 2 minutes cardio; 1 minute ab work] - this DVD has Levels I, II, and III. I'm still at Level 1 at this time. Don't think it's easy to get through, she's got tough segments to work you out but you don't regret it at the end.

I also have the Yoga for Weightloss DVD with Bob but I haven't tried it yet.

Personally, I love having all of the DVD's because they provide a variety you can mix and I got toned up faster than I thought I would. I've had lots and lots of other fitness videos and DVD's over the past 20 years - none have worked me up or toned me up like the Biggest Loser series has done.

Sounds like you have a great variety of DVD's. I recently just asked the director of fitness where I work out how to lose weight, the quickest way and she said HIT training (High Intensity Interval training). The High Intensity part should be hard enough that you are breathless and cannot speak and then recover. Continue this until your work-out is up. I know there has been controversy on the topic of staying in the "fat zone" or "cardio zone" and my opinion, the higher intensity you work out the more calories you burn period, if you spend 1 hour doing moderate exercise compared to 20-30 minutes high intensity, you would probably burn the same amount of calories. Just make sure they are making you out of breath. If not, when I work out at home, I will do jumping jacks or jumping in the air (arms above), then a squat and do that so many times and then do push ups or dips for upper body. This gives a quick work out w/no equipment. Also, you can jog in place (w/high knees to make it harder) and then do a weight exercise (although Fat smash doesn't want you to use weights until the 3rd or 4th phase). Not sure why??? Good luck!

I started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred on February 4th. I have done it daily. I LOVE IT. The best 25 minutes you will spend. I had been working out on my treadmill and elliptical in January. Not seeing the inches I had hoped to see gone. I think I was cheating myself becuase when I got tired, I slowed down, etc. With her DVD, she gives you NO REST. I am already seeing definition in my arms, thighs and stomach and I have only been doing it a week. My husband notices too, so it just isn't in my head. I bought if for $9 at Walmart. You need weights and a floor mat if you do not have a soft area to work out. I am using 3.3 pound hand weights.

Drink lots of water. If you can, try drinking the Benefiber packets in your bottled water. It keeps you feeling full which helps during the detox phase and it helps with bloat, belly fat, and energy.
