Well folks, it's only a few days away. I will be hosting 7 people at my house, and am struggling with taking the day off the diet. I plan on sending all carb related leftovers away from the house and keeping my portion size small. What are other people's plans for thwarting Thanksgiving?

I have 7 people coming too. I am making the traditional feast-potato, stuffing, pies. I plan to have one small helping of everything and eat it slowly, savoring every bite. I'll makes the pies and sides the night before and get up early to put the bird in and then go for a long/walk run before doing anything else.
Thankfully, I have a ravenous 22 yr old that will make short work of the left overs.

What about a group walk after dinner, if whether permits? It will give everyone a chance to stretch and move, and it will allow us dieters a chance to refocus on our priorities.

My problem is that I am going to my mom's house and it is always cold in Western Pa, which makes me want to stay in under the covers rather than walk anywhere. I usually go there with the intention of running or walking, but then when I get there I am freezing and not used to the temp change. Maybe i will try some sit ups or something...

Hey, relax. It's just one day. Enjoy your holiday and move on to your diet lifestyle on Friday. Burn calories shopping the sales!

I am cooking about half the meal for 12 people and I just made sure there are options for me that aren't carb-laden. We have several people in the family on controlled-carb diets for health reasons and we just always make sure there is something for everyone. I don't plan on splurging too much, just having a couple of legal treats and going back on track 100% on Friday. It is more important that you get back on track after a splurge than staying on track all the time. Enjoy the company and the special warmth of the season.

Love the food that loves you back.

LOL! I have to laugh at the idea of a group walk! While I would love for everyone to go out and have a good jaunt, I already envision the groans and eye-rolling that will ensue at the mere mention of post-meal movement! Thanks for the feedback...

portion control! ack!
that's smart- i've seen online special "portion" cups and dishes, but I think that's unnecessary. as for the suggestions to eat six meals vs 3, it just so happens that that is what the diet ...
