I am a very careful person, especially when on my diet.

However, I became VERY, VERY sick.

Very high fever, 104 for almost 2 full weeks, hallucinations, nightmares, near kidney failure, severe dehydration, only to name a few of my symptoms.

I just got out of the hospital after finding out that I had E Coli poisoning, the worst that you can get.

I am very careful, especially with raw meats, so I'm not sure how I got it...

I just wanted to remind you all to be careful handling all these meats that we all eat especially while on our low carb, high protein diets.

E Coli would've killed me if I would've had it just a few more weeks.

It is deadly depending on what kind it is.

I would NEVER wish this kind of illness on anyone.

Just please be careful.

For info on how to protect yourself from it, please Web MD it.

So how likely are you to pick up a piece of meat again and eat it?
It seemed that when I was on induction for any length of time, I would always get food poisoning-type sick. I landed myself in the hospital after eating a seasoned steak (fully cooked IMHO). Now, I cannot eat much steak..especially with that seasoning on it!
Im glad you got your health back! Will this change your eating patterns any?

You know, I think it really helps that I don't know exactly what made me sick. I had obviously been carrying it around with me for some time.

Since I don't know what made me sick, I won't get "sick" thinking about certain foods....

I guess that is the bright side. I still love meat, I just look at it a bit differently.

Well, you can also et E.Coli from eating any other type of food that wasn't properly cleaned or prepared. We just have to be careful. Spinach and tomatoes have been tainted with the bacteria as well as meats. E.Coli can grow on the surface of eggs.

It is really important not to eat food that has been left out or even in the refrigerator too long. I'm glad you're feeling better. Smile

Love the food that loves you back.
