Hi there! I just joined yesterday, so I'm trying to find my way around here before I become fully involved. Anyway, I am 30 years old and the mother of 3 year old twin girls. You would think that chasing two 3 year olds around all day long would keep me looking skinny but that's not the case! I am a former middle school art teacher but I am now starting year 2 as a stay-at-home mom. I run my own little art & graphic design business on the side, so that tends to keep me fairly busy along with my kids. Fortunately, my sweet husband of 9 years has never, ever made me feel like I am "fat" in anyway and has done nothing but encourage me in all of my "dieting journeys." I really want him to have a "hot wife" and I really want my kids to have a mom that they are not embarrassed by someday!
I have struggled with my weight for about 9 years now. At this moment, I weigh the most I have ever weighed in my entire life. My mom's side of the family pretty much all has weight issues, while my dad's side of the family are all skinny-minis. Of course, my 2 sisters are both skinny & gorgeous without working out or following any type of diet, so it's always fun to be standing next to them! (Being the "fat sister" sucks, by the way. Ha!) About 2 years ago, I was going to Metabolic Research Center and lost about 30 pounds. It was the first time in a long time that I had weighed under 200 lbs! I swore that I would never get up that high again, but now, here I am weighing about 20 lbs. more than I did when I started Metabolic Research Center.
The reason I stopped going there was because it was soooo expensive for one, plus, I just couldn't keep eating the way I needed to eat to stay on their plan. It's not normal! Maybe if I had stuck it out, it would have gotten better, but I do not have the will power to continue eating funky things (to me anyway) when everyone around me is eating "normal food."
I recently joined Sparkpeople.com and am pretty impressed with their diet plan, so I think that I am going to go that route. I also bought a Wii Fit yesterday and so far, I think I will be able to do pretty well on that. I have never been much of an excercise-type person so hopefully this will be right up my alley! I am too embarrassed to join a gym and since I stay home with my kids, it's nearly impossible for me to go work out anywhere but at home anyway.
I look forward to meeting some of you and joining you all in this journey! It is nice to know that I am not alone!
Sorry for the long post by the way! Thanks for sticking it out if you've made it this far...ha ha!

Well then, a big howdy from Texas to you too!
To change your account picture, click "My fatsecret" at the top of any page. When the page is done loading, look to the right and there will be a column with an area called "My Toolbox". One of the toolbox options is "my image". That's where you change your pic.

Hi Laycid - I'm in Texas as well - Fort Hood here.
I'm hoping you're further north than SanAntonio due to this weather we're going to be getting!
I can relate to a lot of your story -- just know you're not alone in this struggle!! And isn't it great that we have husbands who love us no matter what?!? He deserves a pat on the bad for that!!
And you deserve a pat on the back for making the right choice in wanting to change the weight!! Congrats and best of luck!!

Welcome. I am also in Texas. I jealous that you have a Wii Fit, I have been looking for one for months but every time I go to ANY store or web site they are out. My mom was able to snag one so I got to try it out and it was so much fun even my dh loved it. Good luck on reaching your weight loss goals.

Exactly. That's what made it finally click in my head. I still have a chance to turn things around with my health and I'm going to take that chance and literally run with it.
