How does the "How does your diet compare" section work? Does it average your calories, etc, for the entire week?? Question

excellent question. I posted a similar question (here) but have not received an answer yet.

I find it a little confusing when my daily total is very different from the "how you compare" chart!

I agree it doesn't seem fair to be doing well with your logs and then look at the bottom of the screen and see your too high on food or too low on exercise!

I was also wondering about that. I'm having trouble deciphering it at all. What do the arrows mean? Red arrow means more or warning or worse? Where are the numbers coming from? I'm going to check the faq to see if I can find any answers.

I'm glad you brought this up!

I just posted almost the same question!! I don't understand why before I post any exercise that I have 2405 calories burned - then after I post my exercise my calorie count goes down!! Its upsetting because I'm killing myself on the treadmill 80 minutes a day and it still says I'm below everyone else, which I'm sure I'm not. Oh well!!!

I could be wrong but I think it takes your average for all the info you have typed in. I don't think everyone needs to worry. It's just a number on a screen. Consider the food you ate and exercise you did for the day not for the week or for the whole month.

The food and exercise calendar seem to compare you to everyone else that is doing the same diet as you are. But remember that not everyone fills it in... so for starters that means it's not going to give an accurate picture.

You could in theory compare yourself to someone else who fills in the details. But personally I only use to give me a rough idea of my own calories eaten in comparison to calories burned. The diet calendar is also useful to evaluate the number of carbs, fat and protein etc you are eating per day. You can edit what you want showing from the EDIT PREFERENCES and can choose up to 6 options. For those doing Weight Watchers, it also shows the US Weight Watchers points.

Hope that helps a bit. Very Happy

I thought it was maybe the time zone because when I log in my dinner, a lot of people are just eating lunch, but after looking at it for awhile I see that it doesn't fluctuate that way.

This "comparison" is not accurate because people aren't filling in their calories and all those 00s are being averaged into the general figure.

It would be great if there was some way to exclude the 00s or incomplete daily entries in the figure so we could see how we're doing - it would be useful information once I get a trend.

I think the comparison thing is dumb...for all you know..ur being compared to someone who's caloric needs are much lower than yours. Maybe if it compared with people on the same diet, same weight, same height, same age...then it might be useful Smile

I think it could be useful when you are starting out. It could help you see if you are on the right track or if your interpretation of the rules seems out of whack with the average.

Put the food in a Recipe (far right). then once that is done, you can add it to your plan. Otherwise, you can put the components in, but better to do recipes.
