This is just for fun.....What is the weirdest food combo you like? Pregnant or not pregnant, it doesn't matter.
I would have to say mine is brussel sprouts and ketchup. That is so yummy. My hubby thought it was gross until he tried it. My 3 year old even likes it.
I guess it's true.....Ketchup does make everything taste better!!!Very Happy

Sardines and chocolate milk! That was my thing when I was pregnant, LOL!!
I used to put chocolate syrup on my raisin bran, but that was because I was a sugar fiend!

Ewwww! That is a trip!!! I honestly have never thought of that. I've never even tried sardines. My papa is norwegian and he would bring those in the house and totally smash on them. They stunk up the house something awful! I'm gonna have to pass but thanks!! That is one for the books--definitely!!!Laughing

Lots of people would probably rate my love of marmite on toast as pretty weird! LOL

Seriously, I think I'm pretty boring in my food tastes. I was SO disappointed I didn't get any odd pregnancy cravings. The only thing I did crave when I was pregnant was Iced Gems. Not sure if you get them in the US - they're miniature little biscuits with some icing on top! Yummy!!

My weight-loss journey, so far...
09/07/2007: 210lb - BMI 36.6
20/08/2007: 196lb - BMI 34.2 (1 stone lost)
29/10/2007: 182lb - BMI 31.7 (2 stone lost)
14/01/2008: 168.5 - BMI 29.4 (3 stone lost)
31/03/2008: 151.5 - BMI 26.4 (4 stone lost)
09/06/2008: 139.2 - BMI 24.4 (5 stone lost and goal weight reached!!)

Hmm... don't think I've got any real weird food combinations that I like. Doubt I tend to like mayonnaise with everything (extra light of course!)... but would honestly eat it with everything if I could.

As for pregnancy cravings though... I had cravings for egg, bacon and mayo baps - apples and grapes and lived on gallons of blackcurrant squash. The blackcurrant had to be Ribena though... and cost a fortune because I used to go through a 2 litre bottle a week. Think that cost about £4.00 a bottle in UK money.

Ooh... I love iced gems too Lucybell... and my middle son loves marmite on toast. He's got quite a weird taste though (I think) and loves corned beef on toast... but strangely not in a sandwich! Confused

LOL! No I used to like sardines in mustard sauce, washed down with chocolate milk! But only while I was pregnant! weird! I also loved fast food from McDonalds while I was pregnant, I would get two of the little hamburgers with extra exta pickles and scarf those suckers. YUCK I HATE MCDONALDS NORMALLY!!! LOL!Laughing oh..p>S. What is marmite???Confused
Oh, and I also used to eat ketchup straight from the packets at Wendy's! I would swear there was something about their ketchup that was addicting! That was when I was a teenager though, that makes me ill remembering that.

when I was pregnant I would only go to restaurants that served liver and onions, I wanted it every day. Now I can't stand the smell of liverLaughing

I also loved Dunkin Donuts, I'd buy a dozen to take to work and eat 8 of them before I got there, that could be the reason I put 80 pounds on when pregnant with my daughter.

I still haven't lost the baby weight and she will be 23 years old in MarchWink

I feel so unadventurous! About the weirdest thing I've ever eaten is peanut butter on celery and then I found out that if you put raisins on it, they call it "ants on a log". LOL. So I guess if I told you I like to eat ants on a log instead, it would have sounded more shocking!

Laughing Evelyn, I would have thought yuk... if you'd added that you ate ants on a log! Shock

Lotus, Marmite is a black sticky spread like stuff made from yeast extract. It's commonly eaten either in sandwiches or on toast.

I didn't know that it seems to be a British and New Zealand food according to wikipedia. But that might explain why you haven't heard of it depending on where you are in the world.

I grew up eating liver pate on toasted bread, as well as anchovy paste and butter on rustic Italian bread. I didn't think it was weird until I moved to the states. I was born in Italy and my mom is Italian. Sometimes I eat whole anchovies or sardines with buttered bread. I have also eaten sardines with olive oil and steamed rice.

I've read when you crave salty or pickled foods it is because your body is needing electrolytes. I found that when i crave chocolate, if I eat some nori (sushi wrapper, aka seaweed) my craving actually goes away. It is some mineral in the seaweed and chocolate that I must be missing.

A lot of my new low-carbing food combinations are considered weird, I guess. I order a side salad with my omelets. Never thought of eating salad with breakfast before. I eat burgers and chicken breasts wrapped in lettuce and use lettuce leaves for taco shells. I shred zucchinis to make "noodles" for my pasta sauce. I eat chicken alfredo without the pasta. Other than that I'm perfectly normal, LOL.

Love the food that loves you back.

Take it one day at a time!

EWW liver and onions GROSSSS!!! LOL! But not so odd, really, a lot of people like liver and onions.
NOT ME!
Fried bologna and PB actually isn't so odd, did you know Elvis used to eat bacon and peanut butter and banana sandwiches? I tried it once it was actually really good! That was pre diet days, LOL!
I don't want to go on the Elvis diet, thank you very much, I SAW his before and after magic makeover!!!LOL!Laughing
Marmite sounds intersting, i wonder what it tastes like?
I had a friend once that ate yeast out of the package, I though she was NAS-TEEE!!! but maybe there's something to the taste of yeast..dunno?!
The though of eating an organism that is still alive weirds me out a little(although I love yogurt, and it has live cultures!)
I have tried weirder foods that I DIDN'T like, on dares...like CANNED SQUID! Ew. Oily and chewy like rubber. I had caviar before, it wasn't for me...didn't like the combination of the squishy texture and fishy flavor. I like fish, i like jello, but not together, ya know? LOL!
A little off subject, but a weird thing me and my friends did when we were kids was put vinegar and baking soda IN OUR MOUTHS to make Mouth Volcanoes! That was so nasty but it looked cool on film, we put blue food coloring in it! LOL We were so weird!!! I lived in a small town, can you tell!?
I used to put worms in my mouth to gross out my friend(oh come on..a LONG LONG TIME AGO in my youth!!) but I never swallowed one. My dad did, at an event called Yuckies Night, which was our chuch's version of Fear Factor kinda, the more gross thing you eat the more points for your team(I know weird thing for a church but oh well..) Anyway you were supposed to swallow them whole, which I would have preferred to my dad's method!!!!
He microwaved it and ate it on a hot dog bun with ketchup!!!!
NOW THAT'S NASTY!!!Laughing
Imagine chewing that?!

I don't do it anymore, but I would always eat my french fries with mayo & black pepper or A1 sauce & hot sauce. Unique taste, but I always thought people used ketchup just because they saw it on tv or the ads and never experimented w/different tastes for themselves. But then again, I was quite a rebel as a teen anyways. lolCool

I don't think I have any weird food craving, except soft plain cream cheese and marmite on ryevita crackers! I could eat that all day! Marmite is also a South African thing! We grew up on Marmite sandwiches for school lunches! And a little info for the British on this site, you know Bovril?? (you guys use it as a beef stock or warm drink) We have it like marmite, on toast or bread! never ever had it as a drink!

I mustn't talk about food much today beause I'm on Detox day and that means only liquid meals like soup!

Now I mustn't think about that because I only eat Slim Fast meals at lunchtime nowadays!

MMMM I like peanut butter, mayo, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Peanut butter can take on a savory taste too. Also when I used to eat meat I used to go to a Vietnamese noodle shop and have the beef tripe soup. Also I was a big pate and foie gras fan.

My brother and I grew up eating honey on toast, covered with slices of cheese for breakfast. With a tall glass of milk this was a little slice of heaven. I always thought it was the most natural thing in the world until a girlfriend told me I was freak!
