I have bought my book- it hasn't arrived yet. I start my diet Nov1- due to travel, business, etc. Should I do any of the following:

1) Get a scale

2) Pre-shop- if so- what items

3) Get rid of anything particular in my fridge that my drive me over the edge( for the most parts its empty)

Can anyone tell me how the first nine days were? What were the pitfalls?

kind of excited/scared.

You are headed in the right direction! Don't wait until the book gets to you to start your new lifestyle...you can start at any time!

Detox phase is pretty simple, it is 9 days worth of fruits, veggies, brown rice, yogurt, beans and a few other things that I can't remember off the top of my head, but this is a start. I know that you also need to DRINK NOTHING BUT WATER!!!!

Go a head and weigh yourself before you start and get your starting weight on the computer, this way you can tell how much you have lost. I also suggest to measure yourself in different areas so that you can see how many inches you have lost, this way when the scale doesn't treat your right you still have a good vibe going!

No need to get ride of things, just don't let them temptation get the best of you, you are doing this for a reason, keep that in mind and you will do just great!

The first 9 days...well, some are harder then others, but remember you are doing this to get healthy and you are doing this for you...push though them and remember you have a great support group use us...we all know where you are coming from and what you are going though! BEST OF LUCK!!!

Set a goal and make a decision to do it. Keep it in front of you. Think about all the reasons you want to achieve it, so that gets you through the times when you want to eat a whole box of donuts!

Set yourself up for success. Get all your favorite fruits and vegetables. What is your favorite yogurt? Have plenty of that on hand to have as a reward.

Buy oatmeal. Sweetened instant is allowed. Buy a half gallon on skim milk. Ripe bananas to help sweeten your smoothies.

Buy Progresso lentil soup and Amy's low fat split pea so that you have something to eat quickly when you don't have time to prepare something.

Get extra virgin olive oil. Buy organic free range eggs and a good egg separator.

Salsa. Helps those egg whites taste better.

A great recipe is black beans, corn, and salsa.

Prepare enough brown rice for a few days and put it in the fridge. It seems to take forever to cook.

Going out to eat? Check the menus on line. PF Changs has brown rice and Buddhas feast which is steamed vegetables.

Plan a time when you will exercise. It is ok to start out slowly. You can work up to it.

Love yourself enough to do this.

Cabawi you are so insprirational, I do have a quick question about something you said "Sweetened instant is allowed" I thought someone said it had to be the oatmeal you cook becuz the other stuff is so powdered and I sure did not know it could be sweetened - do you know how muchj I love Maple brown sugar flavored instant? Please let me know if this is true becuase reg oatmeal is yucky.

Drink lots of water. If you can, try drinking the Benefiber packets in your bottled water. It keeps you feeling full which helps during the detox phase and it helps with bloat, belly fat, and energy.
