Confused
I am frustrated, don't even know if I have the energy to do this but want to try since they will soon need a forklift to remove me from my house if I get any bigger. Looking for some support to help get me started. I have done atkins before and lost 45 lbs but have since gained it all back and then some. I am trying to do this for the sake of my family and for my own hapiness. Hope this strikes a cord with someone who can relate and has been on the program for a while and ready to help inspire. Thanks for your time. Sincerely - Impalagirl

Hang in there, I have been working on mine since June when I tried Nutrisystem. It was a bust. I have since found the reset system and I lost 6 lbs. and 2 pant sizes in the first 5 days. I am having no trouble sticking (just minor cheating) and I am not obsessed with carb cravings anymore. Please add me to your support group, and if your are intrested in Reset let me know and I'll hook you up. Melinda1958Very Happy

I did Atkins years ago and it worked really well for me. I just need to stick to lifetime maintenance when I get down this time. I just started it again last week, I am in week 2 of induction. Just get past the first 5 days and you'll be golden. Not that it isn't a daily choice you have to make, but it gets easier after you reach that hurtle.

I know how you feel since I hit my heaviest late last year. I finally recommitted and I'm here for the long-haul. We can do this!

Love the food that loves you back.

Take it one day at a time!

I did the Adkins diet as well and it worked but as soon as I stopped the diet the weight returned. I finally found something that worked for me but it meant a lifestyle change. I recently found out that I had high cholesterol. The daily recommended level of cholesterol is 300mg. When we shop we are trained to look at fat and carb levels but start looking at the cholesterol levels per serving and you will notice that they are extremely high on most food. If you become aware of your daily intake and reduce that number to 200mg per day I promise you will lose weight. I found it shocking how much we consume without realizing it. It's no wonder so many people have a cholesterol problem. You will also have to watch what you eat. Avoid fatty foods by all means. Eat a lot of chicken (grilled or baked, ground turkey, fish, fresh vegetables and plenty of water. Avoid processed lunch meats. There were so many days when I did not want to eat the right foods but I found that if I made myself do it then afterwards I found that I was completely satisified and really gald that I stuck it out.
My doctor told me that if it comes in a cellophane wrapper or a drive thru window then don't eat it. This was huge for me because it was so easy to run out at lunch and grab a burger. Even though you may not have a cholesterol problem this is the only diet that has ever worked for me and and I have been able to keep the weight off. I've lost 22 lbs. in less than 3 months. I only have 8 more lbs. to go to reach my goal weight. I admit I cheated a little here and there. This is not a quick weight loss plan but a lifestyle change and I feel better than I have in years. I've also noticed a change in the way my entire body feels. It's almost like a cleansing. I wish you and everyone else the best of luck! I can only tell you what worked for me. I'm 47 yrs. old and feels like I'm 30 again. I've never heard of the Reset system but would love to find out more about it.

You are obviously a strong woman, since you've kept away from your addictions for 7 months. You can do this too. Don't beat yourself up for who you are at this moment. Focus on who you will be. I too, want to do this for my family, but most of all I want this for me. And that's why I really believe I can do it this time. My husband and children already adore me the way I am, they just want me to be healthy so I'll stick around longer. I need to change me for me... so I can be the person I know is in there. I am cheating myself if I don't get my butt off the couch and do something about this weight. I am sick of cheating myself. I deserve better... we all do! Good luck with Atkins. I just recently changed to cheat to lose, but I had been on Atkins before and was making slow progress, but progress nonetheless. It works if you stick with it. Believe in yourself.

Well, there are two different kinds of choleserol. One is bad and one is good. The good kind comes from healthy oils and fats, the bad kind comes in the form of ultra-saturated and trans-fats. You need to eat the good cholesterol to combat the bad. Cutting carbs also helps fight cholesterol, specifically your triglicerides. Blood sugar levels (and hyperinsulinism) have a higher impact on triglicerides than the fat you eat.

Also, it is only unsafe to eat fat if you eat too many carbohydrates. That is why insulin resistance (pre-diabetes) often goes hand in hand with high cholesterol and heart-disease risk. Read the Atkins book, and look at all the research references.

That being said, I agree with everything else Coaster said. The only difference is that you only need to cut out BAD cholesterol.

Thanks for bearing with me. I work in a medical lab. I just felt compelled to clarify. =) My best to everyone.
