My motivation is to get healthier/be fit...but I ran into this hot cocktail dress that I'm going to wear for New Years Eve (it seems a ways away, but its a great goal and something to look forward to)...I figure if I can do the healthy 2lbs. per week I'll be even hotter come NYE 2008...

Just wanted to know...what's everyone's motivation?

My motivation is to bring action and control over a situation I was merely complaining about before. Complaining about being too tired all the time, being uncomfortable and bloated, almost coming to tears when I needed to look decent for a special occasion. The list is endless. I hate all those things that are companion the condition of being overweight. But what I hate more is being a powerless whining heap who doesn't do anything to change it. Smile

My motivation is that I want to be healthier, and happier with me!!! But I always find something to work towards. Lately was my fitness test for work, and my party this weekend. For Octorber its my cruise, then the holidays then my birthday, then the summer I find that there is always something to set a goal for and thats what motivates me to keep pushing forward.
Also I never never never want to go back to 200 lbs and so I will look at the old pictures when I don't feel like working out and bammmmmmmmmm Iam out running!!!
Good luck to you

My motivation was my mom. She was overweight almost all her life and died from complications of obesity (among other things). I want to be healthy, happy and wear cool clothes. Not what's there because it's in my size. I want choices!!!

gotta do something or by next year ill be even bigger so in feb 2002 i ballooned to 13 1/2 stone(approx 190-195lbs)by the xmas 2002 i was 9 1/2 so was well happy.
since then married had 3 children diagnosed thyroid disorder and weight piled on i am now up at 175lbs (12 1/2 st) and have said i WILL be 9 1/2 -10 st by my birthday next year its a long battle but am determined to do it and just knowing i have done before gives me that little more belief in myself.
I want to be able to run around more with my kids for longer and not feel worn out after. i want to set them a good example of healthy food and lifestyle.last of all i want to be happy with my reflection a happy mommy is a better mommy than being miserable and moody just out of what i put into my body.
I can do it
You can do
Together we WILL do it

My motivation is to look and feel healthier. I want to have a better image for my career and be able to fit in fabulous clothes. However my biggest motivator is to have peace of mind in terms of my health and soul. Smile

I want to stop living my life as if Im hiding from something and get out there and live. My weight and my body image always holds me back - I want to start working out again and eat right again so I can feel good and show my son the world instead of saying Mommy's too tired.

My motivation is to stop the excuses and get to feeling better! I want to look and feel as good as I know I can. My outside does not match my inside and the way I perceive myself. I also want to stop living by the fact that what I eat is ruled by what "fun event" is coming up. I have to eat better all the time, and do not have a choice to stop when this dinner/outing/holiday/weekend approaches! Smile Smile

My motivation is also to look better and feel better about myself. I know all the things i have to do and need to do i just seem to have alot of trouble actually doing them. I plan to atleast get back to my pre pregnancy weight by my birthday. I would love to be smaller than that but i was happy then and had more choice when it came to shopping for clothes right now i dread the thought of going and trying something on it never seems to fit right. I have a sister who is literally half my size and loves to shop i like spending time with her but feel like people stare when we go out together to try on clothes.
I also need to get healthier so i can better keep up with my son as he gets older and faster.
Good luck to everyone... we can do this if we truly want it.

I know this sounds silly, but I'd like to just once have a guy look at me and have his jaw drop open cuz I want to be drop dead gorgeous (in the body department). Just once in my lifetime, ya know? There's a benefit in April that I'm planning to go to and I'd like to look awesome for that. There's also a 35 year reunion of our Jr High class next year and I'd like to look awesome for that too. Of course the benefit of being healthier etc are all fine and dandy, but I really want my hubby to be proud to be standing next to me!!! I think mostly I want to look fine for him cuz I love him so madly!!! And I want to make sure I hang on to him for a good long while!

When I first started on my diet, I made a list of about twenty reasons why I wanted to lose weight. I typed up this list and emailed it to myself, and every morning for the first few weeks of my diet I would re-read this email to remind myself. It helped a lot on days when I wasn't feeling motivated, and it's fun to look back now that I'm down 40 lbs and see how my motivations are changing. Now it's more about proving to myself that I really can see this through, rather than mostly concerns about appearance or self esteem from a few months ago.

That said, I'd love to really wow all my old friends from school who I've hardly seen in years, especially one old crush in particular...

My motivation is definitely to be stronger, more flexible, and thinner! I just feel like a stuffed sausage right now in clothes that fit me last year. Also, I've been a lot heavier than this and I know the longer I wait to try to lose weight, the more I'll have to lose. Smile

I just hate being fat. There's so many things I hate about it, I can't list them all. I finally got to the point that I hated being fat more than I hated dieting. At 5'2" and over 200 lbs, I can't stand to look at myself naked, much less want anyone else to see it. I WANT MY LIFE BACK!

My motivation is my 17 month old daughter.

I want to be around for her, and at the rate I was going I would be surprised if I made it to her high school graduation.

I found myself not living life like it should be lived...complaining about clothes that "don't fit" and making fun of myself for being fat like my weight didn't bother me.

So here I am, sick of being fat, tired and unhealthy. Ready to take control of my life again and I applaud everyone here for doing the same.

My motivation is being put on high blood pressure medication. I used to be an athlete, there is no excuse for me to let myself go like this. I am so happily married and I love my house, my life, my career, myself....so I want my body to reflect how I truly feel! I am so ready to let my husband see me naked again! Wink Thanks for asking this question, what a great reminder for everyone. Best wishes to everyone here.
