Well I am starting today and I don't drink coffee, I drink Diet Coke.. Lots uggg.. I have tried to wean myself off but I get really bad headaches, any ideas? Thanks ~Deanna

Same here as far as addicted to Diet Coke. I don't have any cure but I only experienced the headaches 1-2 days. I thought I'd be dying to have it again but I'm not and I'm glad since I've always heard that they cause bloating and overall aren't good for you even thought they're diet.
Now I drink water and tea!

I'm on my 2nd week of Phase 2, and I had a BAD coffee habit that I had to shake. For whatever reason, I didn't get headaches, so I was lucky there. A couple of things that my husband & I did that helped a little are to try as many different herbal teas as we could find. We tried just about all of them, and now we both have our favorites. Trying different ones gave us something else to focus on besides what we were missing. Also, we bought 2 water jugs at the store (the kind that have spigots) and we always have one with plain tap water in the fridge, and the other has sliced lemons and limes in it. We also tried sliced cucumbers and mint leaves in the water, and that is VERY refreshing on a hot day.

I didn't have any Diet Coke cravings on Phase 1. I drank TONS of water and I mixed up the water with a slice of lime or lemon. That helped alot! You get tired and bored of drinking water all day, everyday for 9 days. So mix it up and hopefully that will help you.

I am a Diet Cokeaholic. I actually gave it up for lent. Cold turkey. I lost more weight at this time. So you would think that after Easter, I would not go back to it, but that morning I woke up drove to the store and bought a mega Diet coke. It was heaven. Been drinking them ever since. I tell myself to only drink one a day, but it usually becomes four or five. I still somehow get in 70 ounces of water a day as well. I love my bathroom!! Ha. Ha. So good luck with that, I know it's hard

Diet coke hads phenylalanine in it - its actually a mood enhancer - and the withdrawal from the phenylalanine is what causes the headaches and blue moods. In addition to caffeine withdrawal . . . you can supplement with DL or L phenylalanine and it will help with the withdrawal symptoms. As far as the caffeine goes Im still drinking it and I cant help there! Ive quit but I always go back like a pong ball...

I drank coffee and Diet Coke everyday. To my surprise I did not miss cofee, but i defintely craved Diet Coke. I had one of the mini cans you can buy in grocery stores as my reward for reaching Phase II.

I'm on some medications that make me sleepy. I have to have caffeine or at least that's what I tell myself. I was drinking Mt Dew, then Coke Zero, now I've switched to a sugar free mix called Morning Spark. I drink 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon to get my caffeine fix. Using that as a substitute for the 2 diet sodas I'm allowed on the Fat Smash Diet. This may be the worst solution presented as you are just trading one thing for another.

I can't relate at all. I *never* drink Diet Coke. Ugh.
OK, so I drink about 3-4 cans of Diet *Pepsi* a day, though. Laughing
I did switch off the Diet soda for a while, but I figured I have been good about giving up saturated fats, starches, coffee, and sugars... I'd like to keep my one vice. Smile

I still drink diet Coke or Pepsi but I always had the Caffeine free versions. I also cut back to just one a day usually with Dinner.

The thing with diet drinks is it accually causes belly fat (it is scientifically proven), and does not satisfy out crave for sugar, therefore making us still want the sugur. It is not good, because then we drink more of the diet drink, which causes more belly fat, and keeps us from losing weight. By not drinking cola products at all caf. free or not, we would all lose weight. My father lost a good 20lbs. by not drinking soda, and drinking water and he drank some poweraid. It has the sugar in it, but it is better for you then the things in diet drinks and regular soda.

If it's not Caffiene Free Diet Coke, then it does not matter if you drink coffe, tea, or Diet Coke. It's the Caffiene......Caffiene is a narcotic drug and the headaches from stopping Caffiene is a sypmton of withdrawal. It's takes approximately 3 days to break the addiction. I know, I been doing Atkins for a while and have terrible Caffiene addition. I just like it., So I give up something else. If you read the new Atkins information on their website, you will find that they now say, you can have caffeine if it does not bother you.

Drink lots of water. If you can, try drinking the Benefiber packets in your bottled water. It keeps you feeling full which helps during the detox phase and it helps with bloat, belly fat, and energy.
