Are we supposed to be writing everything down on the South Beach Diet? I'm still waiting for my copy of the book from Amazon...

I try to, just so I can monitor everything- and if I write it here it helps because I know other ppl will see it! I don't think it's a requirement though...

I can see how writing it here could definitely be helpful. Tnx.

I read an interview with the guy who created SBD (whose name is escaping me right now) and that question was asked. He said that no, he does not encourage keeping a food journal because counting and keeping a food journal is not "real life" practical, and that the thing about SBD is that it fits with real life. But I would think it's just a matter of personal preference - some people might like to spend the time journaling their food. Personally that's why I quit Weight Watchers...I got really sick of all the counting and journaling.

That is totally understandable, the system has to be sustainable. Six months ago when I made the original post, I thought that in my case it wouldn't be; so far, I've been wrong. And, I can't stress how important (to me) writing things down has been.

I have been a coffee drinker for years. I still put on the weight so I really do no think it helps weight loss unless you drink too much and it makes you sick.
