I was given this book to read written by Pam Mycoskie. While I am just beginning its reading & it is quite a large book I thought Id see if anyone else has read it. IF YOU HAVE,please comment with your thoughts on it. Thanks!
I am learning to eat clean & am uncertain if this is a book that I wish to keep in my collection. As with all my reading & research,I will test the truthfulness of what is presented before deciding on anything. Very Happy

Haven't read it but from the title it sounds like it's geared to a low fat plan. I try to eat whole natural foods and butter is part of my plan though small amounts. Margarine is something that is no longer in my home.

As with many low fat plans, it substitutes with chemically processed foods, such as Butter buds.
Maltodextrin (a natural carbohydrate derived from corn), Natural Butter Flavor, Salt, Dehydrated Butter*, Guar Gum (a natural thickener), and Baking Soda

Not my cuppa tea and would never go with chemicals over real foods in moderation such as butter. As Jeri said, never margarine.

Check out a set of books called 'Eat Shrink and be Merry' They have wonderful recipes that allow you to eat great recipes but with lower fat etc but with all natural ingredients.
If it is a plant, eat it, if it comes from a plant, don't!

I wasn't far into its reading before realizing,as the 2 of you, that it is a low fat way of eating & as Mummy brought out, substitutes with chemically processed foods. Not "my cuppa tea" either Very Happy so I am happy to close the book without testing any of its claims since I have already tested & come to the truthfulness that chemically processed foods are toxic for the body & lifestyle I am creating! All those fat substitues and sugar added to make them taste good is also not my idea of good food. I do have a slew of low fat cookbooks and use some of the ideas when they are strictly natural foods or just substitute real butter or olive oil and natural real cheese for those fat free ones. Some I picked up for 4/$1.00 at a thrift shop when I was researching what WOE I would follow and have titles like heart healthy.

That is a good idea WFN but as I have other cookbooks that I use I really dont feel the need to add one that *I* would need to modify to the collection. One reason I am truly enjoying this way of eating is that it simplifies the meal process for me Very Happy To add this book would cause unneeded & unwanted complication in a life I am redesigning! What is your favorite? I can't choose one as many are great for different things. I read them and use them. Some are quite old and interesting many are different cuisines.
