Why is it I feel like I am doing this correct and havent seen the scales go down?

Hi there I am really trying to stick with this diet for round two. I lost over 20 lbs in 2005 and yes like many of you it came back cause I slacked. I just feel like I need some help getting motivated to excercise and need new recipes. I feel different but dont see that great 8 to 13 in 2 weeks. SO I am still on phase one till I see that! Any tips on recipes and excercise?

I do believe exercise really does help speed things along. My husband is also doing the South Beach and in Phase 1 I actually lost more then he did which has never happened before and the only difference we had was that I exercised and he didn't. I know it sometimes so hard to get started, but if you make time in your schedule and do it pretty consistently you will get to the point to where you really miss it when you do get to do it. I know, hard to believe, but true! Also, I think keeping it different is another key...I usually switch between the several dvd's I have at home so I'm not doing the same thing every day. So give it a try and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Amanda, when you restarted did you read everything over again to make sure you're following phase 1 correctly? I just started again and forced myself to read the book over just to make sure. Also keeping a food journal really seems to be helping me. If you're not doing one yet it might help. Everything seems more real when I force myself to write it down.

Yep I read the book throughly again and again but the scale I have is wayyyyyy offf. Clothes have fit better but I wanted to see a vast improvment. I will get on that excercise program today. Thanks

Your clothes fit better but your not seeing a difference on the scale? If thats the case you may actually be replacing the fat with muscle which is a GREAT thing to do. Not only does muscle weigh more - it burns more which means it will start to speed up your metabolism. While most people only track weight it is always a good idea to also track your measurements. Watching inches melt away can be an even better motivator. Ive actually had times where I weighed 10 - 20lbs over my average but was wearing a smaller size because of muscle mass. Unfortunately this isnt one of those times but Im working on it. Very Happy

It's a bit like the stock market, it's not timing the market but time in the market that counts. For me that means it's not timing my weigh ins when I know I've been good but rather sticking to the diet for a long period and then I know I will show some good numbers.

Maybe not the best analogy but that's what jumped into my headExclamation Exclamation

Diet Break
Well I'm off the diet break now and back to 1200-1300 cals a day and have dropped two pounds in 3 days.

You can log water in your daily diet intake. Water is pretty individualized anymore. the 8 glasses is some arbitrary number.
