For me it is CHOCOLATE & PIZZA!

Depriving yourself of the food you love is not the way to go. There is no such thing as "bad food" there is only quantity and frequency.

Happy V-day everyone.

The trick here is to substitute--- extra dark chocolate for chocolate and I recommend Guittard extra dark chocolate chips. You can eat 30 of those buggers for 70 calories and it's got a decent amount of iron in it.

As for pizza, I know there are low carb and/or lower calorie ways to make pizza.

Got to think of it as lifestyle changes. Making better choices most of the time. Somewhere along the way, I lost my cravings. It happened around October because I still have all the Halloween candy in a cabinet and haven't touched it. Not really sure what changed at that time. The only thing that really changed was I joined the gym in September, but had already been working out at home. I eat the same way and my weight is stable. I'm in maintenance mode. That probably doesn't help, but I try to keep my thoughts focused on choosing foods that offer some kind of nutritional value.

After dieting down from 230, simply a little more of what I'm having now. I'm not going back. No. Not more of the V-diet, lol Once these last three pounds go, I'll be having that little more, too. I'm looking forward to it.

I like your answer Lisa! And completely understand what you're saying ncnole. I made a quinoa chocolate goat cheese brownie cake for my daughter for V day, I had 2 bites just to try it and I felt sick. After 10 years being sugar free it tasted delicious but I didn't want any more.
As for pizza, has anyone tried cauliflower pizza crust? it is excellent, different but with all natural toppings its a favourite in my house.

what I miss is my wine, just love to have a glass when I get home from work and it just seems to go along with cooking but while trying to lose it doesn't work for me even if i stay within my RDI.

I miss having chips everyday. But also know that I can't eat them in moderation. My addiction. Especially Martin's Kettle Cooked/Hand Cooked. Thick and greasy. So I do without. Do eat regular ones about once a week and try to keep it within 1 oz. Sometimes not.

Other things I used to eat, I wouldn't go back to. Little Debbie's. The two of us were on a first name basis. And when we pass each other in the grocery store I give her a nod, smile and a gentle touch.

I really thought about this & was *stunned* that as much as I *thought* I liked just the process of eating, the feeling of the food in my mouth & the first tastes of it on my taste-buds,that I don't miss it or anything for that matter!I truly LOVE eating healthier & I don't have the cravings as I formerly did. I soooo enjoy the feeling of being slimmer(& I really am *not* near slim yet) BETTER than feeling the celebration on my taste-buds!
Very Happy

I don't consciously deprive myself of anything. I know my triggers, though, and there's things I have to stay away from. Like Dunkin Donuts. But if I want a piece of cake, or a cookie, or something that I used to eat too much of all the time, I'll have a small taste versus gorging on it. My body doesn't miss things like I thought it would. Sometimes if I eat something not very healthy, my body will be in knots. The oreos I ate yesterday for instance. Had a stomachache a few hours after I ate 4.
My journey started May 15, 2013 at 260 pounds with Weight Watchers. I'm continuing with this wonderful lifestyle plan and support program, and am now adding Fat Secret calorie tracking to what I am already doing. I can now use both in reaching my goal weight and then to ensure I don't return to the unhealthy eating and lifestyle habits I'm working so hard to discard permanently.

One day at a time, one pound at a time. I am CAPABLE and CAN DO IT !!!

Amen! I've noticed the same thing....if I eat something a little too sugary, fatty or just not good for me, I feel like crap physically. My stomach gets upset and I get headaches.

I miss chips, chocolates, tortillas and chorizo.. OMG I really really miss them! once a week I eat a potato made in the oven without any oil or anything; it is fine and it helps, but it is not the same as some chips with lemon and hot sauce. But well, it's something!

Same for chocolates; I'm eating only a small portion every 1 or 2 weeks; this is a reall challenge for me as well because it is hard to eat only a bite.

For chorizo and tortillas (or in general greasy mexican food), well; that is my Achille's heel, so I better stay away from it because I can't control myself.

For those who love chips and need the crunch and or the salt try Kale chips or baked veggie chips

The diet I'm on doesn't allow it atm. On next stage I can probably add a little to my salad as long as it stays under 400 calories. It's something to look forward to!Very Happy

When I'm counting calories, I miss being able to sit down to a meal without thinking about how I'm going to log it. I'm not strict about my calorie limitations but being accountable and mindful about what I eat means I at least have to keep track and it becomes a chore after a while.
