Hi all, I am in my late 40's. I had a hysterectomy at 39 but my ovaries were left. I am now most probably in that perimenopause stage and have been having an increase in hormone related symptoms.

I am also finding it a little harder to shift those pounds. I could not find a group relating to this so I have started my own. It is simply called 'Group for menopause or perimenopause.' I would love to be able to swap tips about foods which may support us at this stage of life while keeping the pounds from piling on. It would also be good for people to join who have come out the other side and have found things that work for them.

Hello Ladies! I most definitely fall into this group! Had my partial hysterectomy at 32 and now that I am 50 boy have things slowed down! One thing I have found that helps with the crazies (emotion roller coaster I find myself on at times) is exercise. I found that when I am in this mode, getting out and burning some calories really helps me to regain reality and face life again on a more positive note.

I couldn't agree more, richiesbaby! I'm an avid, borderline obsessive, exerciser. No mater how tired or moody I feel, I always feel so much better after breaking a sweat!

I do tend to go for a good brisk walk if I feel my stress levels rising. Maybe I need to step it up a bit.

At the moment, i have been trying to eat healthily and increasing intake of the omega fats. I am hoping to see an improvement in symptoms.

I have trouble exercising due to sciatic nerve & nerve pain, so my diet is key.

HI Peggy, thanks for your advice. I started with a week around 1000 but that was just to shrink my stomach and kill my "greed"! (See food, eat food...) This week I seem to be averaging 1200 and ...

Well, LoveMyKittie, we are close to the same age which should make it a lot easier to support each other. I'd be happy if I could lose 25 lbs although 60 would be ideal. I just started counting ...

Alternate Fasting
I did alternate fasting from June until Thanksgiving. I lost about 20 lbs. Not sure why I stopped other than to blame it on a new job I started in October. I'm still striving to start up again but ...

Looking for someone with similar statistics :)
That sounds a little thin to me. You are already at the bottom of your healthy BMI range. Concentrate on the health aspects of your life, not the physical. At that weight, I'm sure you already look ...
