Here I am..Mammylam! Way older. Proud to be 68 and having a goal to be healthy. Started a couple of weeks ago and so far like a yoyo lost and gained the pounds. Today I'm down the pound. Took a walk for the first time in many many months. Felt good. My eating plan is careful input and the amount. Staying off all bread and beef. Enjoying a glass of wine or two during the week and finding life is good.
How about you?

I am a calorie counter. I wasn't fat until I got married and then it got worse aftet each pregnacy. I have dieted most of my adult life, so I consider myself to be an expert. I know what works and what does not. I am easily sidetracked

I'm 58, can I play? Isn't it fun, Mother Nature is an Evil B** , first she gives us a 'child bearing' body.. thanks.. thanks for the hips and the monthly visits from 'our friend', yeah right, and then menopause, but first peri meno pause... here's 10 lbs , thanks again... then menopause crazy hormones and no sleep but lots of sweating with no weight loss! what's with that.... then after we're finished being crazy banshees' we're left with the body that won't bounce back or do what our minds want us to do. Our metabolism has slowed down and our hormones are still flying wild. Oh, yes, the fun years!
So all that being said, we still plod along and accept the fact that it will take longer and we may have to work harder but it will happen.... Good luck to all.

I think I qualify. 61 and overweight!! Been struggling with this since my 40's doing the lose-gain dance and I need to learn some new dance steps. FatSecret has helped, I've been losing slowly, very slowly with blips here and there but I'm going to keep at it. Would love to join if a group starts up.

I think I get it now...what you do to lose the weight you need to continue doing to keep the weight off. Joined this time August 25, 2013 and I am down 70 lbs. Looks like we have a nice little group going on here. I'm new too, don't get on the site often, have lost 60+ lbs since April, and am still a little overweight......no, I'm not over-weight.....I'm just UNDER-HEIGHT!
I'm losing and maintaining by watching portions, avoiding WHITE (if it's white, don't bite!), and generally just trying to eat healthier. I also just joined the "Y" have started taking a couple of low impact aerobic classes since I've been inactive for , oh, forever! I DO excel in holding the couch down, however!

I think Nancy said it best..."what you DO to LOSE the weight you need to CONTINUE DOING to keep the weight OFF" (cap's were to emphasize)MAMMYLAM I certainly qualify to be an older lady posting although I am not in my 60's (50) but I would prefer to focus on getting the weight off & keeping it off & encouraging others of like mind in doing the same. Nothing of true value is attained by complaining or degrading our wonderfully made bodies. Rather, when we learn to accept & work along with our bodies true transformation is gained! Very Happy I welcome anyone as my fs buddy who wishes not in deeds only but in *words* as well, to be the best we can be. It *is* the words we say,the thoughts we think that eventually get us to where we end up Very Happy
We can not become who we want to be by remaining who we are.
Action follows Thought. Focus on the Efforts & the Results will come.

Hi! I'm 54 and have been looking for a forum with people 50 and older. So happy to see some of you are also seeking the same. I have worked out since my 20's but it's becoming harder to loose that 10lbs! I made a move to the Pacific Northwest and decided to build a gym in our home. We have a new Hoist weight machine and a Life Fitness treadmill, free weights etc. I'm happy to be able to just go into the next room to do my workout. I only miss inner and outter thigh machines. It can be just too cold or too wet to leave sometimes. I find the colder climate also makes me stiff, thus, slower to get moving in the am. :/ That said...I am now logging my daily intake and excersize on Fat Secret to remind myself exactly where I can tweek my habits to achieve the goal. It's a super tool!

I'm 68, and I use Fat Secret to stay at a reasonable weight. When I enter my food intake and exercise it helps me stay on track. When I slip, well, it helps me get back on track.

Over 50, I'd join in a heartbeat. You have to change your diet and exercise routine because your body starts to go thru changes and what worked at 30 and 40 won't at 50. My doctor told me this.

Hello group, well I don't consider myself older but I AM 62! I would love to have the body to match my frame of mind. My biggest challenge is getting motivated to exercise. I can't use the weather as an excuse because it's almost 80 where I live! So I use the sun as my excuse, because I am very fair. I wish I had a buddy to work out with, but I live in a very rural area with no one around.

With the snow storms, going out is not a good thing. So I did some simple excersizes. Raised my legs while sitting on the chair 20x,s each. Stood up and down. 20x, went up and down the stairs 5x. Felt good.
