Hey Urbanchick, welcome aboard! I hope you'll like it here.

I started my weight loss journey with little to no exercise at all, but as I have progressed, reached goal, and even started TEACHING others how to lose weight, I have seen something ring true every time:

Exercise helps your weight loss journey!

Essentially, you have two types of exercise: Cardio (calorie burning) and Strength (muscle building).

As much as it seems obvious that cardio is a good thing, do remember this:

Cardio basically burns calories while you are doing it. When you stop, the calorie burn goes back to your normal state.

Strength training, however, builds muscle. Muslce is basically calorie burning little factories - and they will burn more calories ALL the time, along with toning your body and upping your general wellbeing.

I can not recommend strength training enough. I follow a program very similar to what they use at Curves, maybe you've heard of it? I see ginormous results from it. I look great, I feel great, and I am three times stronger than what I used to be - literally!

On days where you don't do strength training, you can do cardio. It's good for you, it burns calories and thus gives you a larger calorie deficit.

I hope it helps.

About something to actually do:

I can recommend the Christ Powell workouts. Start with level one and work your way up. These are essentially also strenght training, though relatively low impact - they're a great place to start.

I went from morbidly obese to being the owner of TABDIG - a weight loss coaching service that helps people worldwide losing weight. It's been an amazing journey. From October 4th 2010 to April 3rd 2012 I lost half my body weight - 80 kilos/170 lbs. Since then, I have had two cosmetic surgeries to remove excess skin. I have now quadrupled my strength, gained several kilos in muscle mass, and today I focus on building muscle, optimizing my diet, living healthy and helping people to reach the very same goals. I am stronger, healthier, thinner, happier! If you feel that you need help losing weight, don't hesitate to send me an inbox message.

A 20 minute walk is a GREAT start. Walking is good for both body and mind. I put on an audiobook, and it's like walking AND being at the movies. Not bad. Smile

Hi... and welcome. That's how I got started. Walking 20 minutes/daily. Then it increased because I just loved it. The added a recumbent bike because I had it for physical therapy after a knee replacement.

Then slowly started on the strength training KingKeld talks about. It makes you feel wonderful. And you'll hear it from others. Exercising is addictive. You'll feel so good afterward. And that's a promise I and many others will backup.
