Here's the problem:
My kids LOVE to eat at Taco Bell ... my problem is that I'm not really sure what to order, if anything and stick to low carb. I've heard that the meat has carbs... I'm sure the chicken and steak would be ok but I'm really not sure what or how to order anything for myself. I really enjoy spending the time with my kids.. but don't want to go off my diet in order to have a good time with them and this is usually our dinner for the night. Should I just not eat until I get home or what? Any ideas???? Doubt

Taco salad... but see if they will use chicken instead of hamburger. Or skip the meat, and get extra salsa. And a big cup of water Wink

that sounds good.. I think I will steer clear of the hamburger meat and the beans anyway, just to be safe.

Yeah, the meat is soy based and they use oatmeal to stretch it out. So skip the meat and go with chicken or steak.

A few chicken soft tacos with sour cream and extra cheese would be an alright option. Toss the tortilla's of course.

if you go to tacobell.com you can find all the nutritional info on their food. this is also true of other fast food places like sonic.com, mcdonalds.com, kfc.com and a bunch of others i can't think of at the moment. it makes counting calories, protein, carbs and all that really simple.

Taco Bell's probably okay. Of course, I'm diabetc so I need an even amount of carbs, but I think when you're dieting you need to watch out for calories more than anything. The break down is that 1g of carb equals 4 calories, 1g of fat equals 9 calories, and 1g of protean equals 4 calories. Know that, and it should be easier to balance your diet. It's probably the best option to have chicken at taco bell. Skip out on the sour cream or go for a lighter sour cream if they have it. Avoid beef, cause it's kinda fatty. Beans will be good for protean, and you should be able to have a tortilla; they're usually low carb, anyway. =D

Woops, Stars you're in the Atkins forum. These ladies are counting carbohydrates, not calories.

Your information might be right for WeightWatchers, but it's not right for Atkins.

Tortillas are not low in carbs, they are quite high actually and so are beans. We need all the fat we can get so we want the full fat sour cream.

Best option is to find a Taco Bell / KFC. You can get the grilled chicken which is zero carbs.

NEVER choose the "light" option of anything, as they usually add sugar to make up for lost fat.

Had Taco Bell for lunch, 1 carb per chicken soft taco sans tortilla. Works for me!

Is the fried shell not a tortilla? Or would you just not eat the shell? I am confused. I also got the Ranchero chicken soft tacos Fresco style ( specify no cheese or sauce) and don't eat the tortillas!

Exactly, don't eat the shell or tortilla.
