I am at about week 9-10 of the atkins diet. I did slim to no carbs for the first three weeks, then introduced a little more, and a little more, but I honestly have no idea how many a day Im eating. I try to keep it as low as possible.

So, I guess my question is, what point should I be at right now? 20-25 HEALTHY carbs per day? Im curious because I found this yogurt I want to eat, but Im not sure if I can risk 13 carbs for 1 thing of yogurt. Any advice would help.

Thanks!

You should be at 20 NET carbs per day at least, depending on the phase. That means AFTER fiber is subtracted out. Don't do fewer. You should be getting 25 grams of fiber a day PLUS 20 non-fiber carbs. 12-15 of those carbs should be veggies.

Don't do the yogurt. Check for sugars, and it most probably has it pretty high on the ingredients.

If you are in OWL, my understanding is that there IS a low-carb yogurt out there that you can have.

Thaks for the help! Do you have any suggestions to what I should eat for fiber? I thought fiber was mostly carbs.

Thanks!

Fiber is entirely made of carbs, but you don't count it on Atkins. Because fiber is indigestible, it doesn't count towards what Atkins calls "net carbs". In fact, net carbs is the "Total Carbohydrates" on a nutritional label minus the fiber. The remaining carbs is sugar + starch.

All the Atkins safe vegetables are good sources of fiber. He also recommends supplementing with psyllium husks.

I was on atkins for over two years! I had flax seed bread ( linseed with an egg and baking powder! you'll find the recipe for this on atkins.com .
I also lost a lot of weight but gained it back and more when I just overloaded the carbs! what ever you do add the carbs or calories back slowly adding more each day when you get to the target you want!
if your craving a sweet treat then rhubarb is the one to have ! you can have it with thick cream as this is very low in carbs but I would definately add the calories too as this also helps with the weight loss!
I missed the fruit when i did atkins but I do miss the amount of chicken and meat I was eating even though It did stop working for me!
I havent touched aa egg or bacon since may or was it june! lol
good luck mate!

Flaxseed is my fiber of choice. I LOVE some of the creations you can do with it. There is an incredible pumpkin flaxseed cookie that I did last weekend, and I do what is called a MIM every morning.

MIM=1/4 cup ground flax; 1 tsp splenda; 1/2 tsp baking POWDER; 1 tsp cinnamon; 1 tsp butter; 1 egg. Mix up and microwave 1 minute. Grat with cream cheese on top, or any other spread.

These are great OMM = One Minute Muffin.

I top mine with sugar free syrup and butter. They're really good...think I'll have one now!

LOL..that is so true Laney.

I LOVE the people who scream and cry about Atkins because you can tell that they don't have a clue as to what they are talking about.

I've never eaten so many veggies in my LIFE as I do on Atkins.
