Hi my name is Julie and have been on Atkins now for nine weeks up to this point have lost 12lbs am due to weigh this week, as well as using fatsecret I also use the Atkins Web www.Atkins.com they have a forum that is very supportive and answer a lot of questions, Stalling being one of the most common, their is certainly a system to this diet and just reducing your carb intake is not enough I have found for myself that the amount of veggies and water plays a large part, are you still on induction? how much do you need to lose? I have noticed from the forum that the lighter and less weight you need to lose the more patience you will need good luck you will get their.

Hey,

Try www.atkins.com.
There are many many people there that will help you out.
This forum is nice, but a little on the quiet side.

good luck!

Have you been following the program intently, slowly adding up the amount of net carbs you intake? Generally if you stall, it means one of two things: A) Your carb intake is at the right place, but your calories are too high, inhibiting your weight loss B) Both your carb intake and your Caloric intake are too low, slowing your metabolism (the so-called starvation mode).

There's also a chance that your body simply does not respond well to the Akins diet. Though I won't discuss the raging debate, many recent studies show that both extreme low-carb and on the other hand extreme low-fat diets are less effective for long term weight loss. Many people do respond well to these diets, but some people don't -- this is probably due to the each individual's metabolism and genetics. But that's a factor for you to decide, and it seems you have already made a decision.

There is also a chance, especially with the Atkins diet, that you could be making progress but water weight is stopping the scale from budging. This is because a lack of carbohydrates prevents muscles and other tissue from storing as much fluid as they otherwise would.

Hope this helps.

Hey kiddo, I started Atkins 2 weeks ago and I joined the Atkins on Facebook group.. at least 4 times a day the Atkins moderator posts helpful hints, asks questions, shares links and gives shout outs to Atkins diet users.. it's extremely nuturing and supportive... any time a member shares a struggle the Atkins moderator and members send them love.. it is great!!

Most people who are doing Atkins that aren't loosing weight aren't eating ENOUGH calories. Your focus needs to be on NET carbs, but if you find you aren't loosing, take a look at your calories. You need to be getting at LEAST 1500-1800 a day. Lower than that and weightloss can stall.
