I have been sick with a nasty cold and cough for 2 weeks...haven't had much of an appetite, but when I do eat it is pretty strict LCHF foods. I have only lost 2 lbs in over 3 weeks. I am thinking I am not eating enough, due to not feeling well, and my body thinks it is starving and not burning much of anything in the way of fat and or calories. What say you ? Confused

Starvation mode is a myth. There has never been proof of it. When calories are controlled(deficit), fat loss is inevitable. 2 lbs. is completely fine in 3 weeks. Given the same caloric intake and protein intake, fat loss will be exactly the same whether your calories come from carbs or fat.

Diablo360x...those 2 lbs I lost are back and there is absolutely no change in my weight. Since January 2, and I have had less than 1000 calories a day and less than 20 carbs. I don't know why. I have done this way of eating for years and the weight comes off pretty quickly once I am in ketosis. Which I have been for over 2 weeks.

Weeks is simply not enough time to know for sure if a diet is working. Normal water weight fluctuations can mask fat loss in such a short amount of time. Come back if it's been at least a month, especially if your profile pic is close to where you are, you don't have much to lose.

5 pounds and keep my blood sugar in range and lower my cholesterol are my main goals. My profile picture was taken in August.

What is your age/height/weight? Your picture suggests you are already quite lean.. you may not have a lot to lose, vs an endomorph like myself who could lose 30 lbs and still be a stocky fellow.. but for the most part, weight loss is pure science. Caloric deficit will equal weight loss over the long run, and experience dictates where it doesn’t work, it’s usually because I’m not being honest with myself about what I’m eating and how much.

I am 63 yrs old, 5'2" and I currently weigh 125. My doctor and I both are more concerned about my cholesterol levels than with weight loss, but I refuse to take statins after side effects. A lo carb diet has worked for me in the past keeping my borderline blood sugar in check and lowering my lipids. I feel comfortable at around 120 lbs. So no great weight loss needed, just a "touch up "
