Hello All

Just received my Fitbit and opened my account. Do I have to do anything to sync my fitbit flex with the foods & calories that I enter in at fatsecret. Please help?

What I do is this: I take my calories burned from my Fitbit each day and I compare it to the calories burned at FatSecret (basically my RDI). I then add an appropriate amount of exercise to FatSecret for that day so that the two numbers get as close as possible. I use the "Walking at 3.5 MPH" setting just because I used to actually enter Walking at 3 mph and 4mph back before I got the Fitbit. So yesterday, for instance, I burned 2215 on FatSecret but I actually burned 2926 on Fitbit after walking all day and exercising. So I added 2 hours and 43 minutes of "Walking at 3.5 MPH" to FatSecret in order to bring the FatSecret calorie burn up to 2925. I do that every day now.

I do something similar to Draglist except I use a custom activity of "living" with a 24 hour time span and then I enter the total amount of calories that the Fitbit said I burned in that day (I wear my fitbit 24/7). That way I don't have to sort out which activities I did and get it to all add up correctly.

And I'll add that basically the whole reason I do that is so that I can count my caloric deficit for the week...

That's interesting, Annie. So you completely replace the FS time with the Fitbit time? If so, that seems like a good time saver.

I have a "fitbit daily burn" and a "fitbit adjustment" but now that fitbit added a scanner I'm looking into the fitbit app again. I really wish they would sync these two together instead of myfitnesspal. I weigh my foods and FS is food scale friendly...MFP is not. Sad

In my example I have a baseline of 3001 calories burned from fitbit. If I finished the day with 4000 I just add a 999 calorie adjustment and for me it works out.

Yep Bill, that's exactly what I do. I wish I could do it all on one site but the food database is so robust on FS, I just can't leave here. lol What needs to happen is for FS to buy the Fitbit company!

I just recently bought the Jawbone Up. Same idea as the fitbit but it isn't Bluetooth. I have to plug it into my I phone to sync it. I don't use the food diary on the Up app. I prefer the FS app much better. So I track my activity/steps and sleep with my jawbone but all food goes into FS.
