Hi!
I am currently going to the gym about 3xs a week, and busting my buns on the tredmill/elliptical machine. With my improving endurance, I want to challenge my body so I can make the most of my hour and half at the gym. I am what you would call, a curvy girl, so I feel to lose weight in the right places, the right work out is in need.

I was thinking about getting one session with a personal trainer, but hey, that's expensive.

So I figure I would come here to get input from my fellow FS buddies!
What are your thoughts/feelings/experiences you have to offer?
Thank you so much!

Hey pretty lady! Unfortunately I don't think there is any way to guarantee where weight will be lost from. I've lost at least a cup size, boooo! Luckily for me, though, while the rest of me is shrinking I actually look pretty proportionate. Cardio is great for getting that maximum calorie burn, and when I only have a small amount of time to get in a killer workout, you can bet your bottom dollar I'm on the treadmill or the elliptical. However, I am avidly working on 'dat ass' and thighs, so I do lots of squats, and the stair climber. I'm really wanting short shorts this year lol. So it's not so much losing weight in certain places as it is toning the places you want to look tighter, firmer etc. Cardio is great for melting away the inches, but we also much be mindful of what it's going to look like when the fat is gone. Toned is a great look Smile I also use a kettle bell at home with a DVD I have by bob harper, it's a great full body strength workout. Have a good one Wallisrox!

I've lost at least a cup size, and that just happened recently. The band size went down pretty dramatically, but the cup stayed the same for SO long. Not now !!! I don't mind too much, though.

My journey started May 15, 2013 at 260 pounds with Weight Watchers. I'm continuing with this wonderful lifestyle plan and support program, and am now adding Fat Secret calorie tracking to what I am already doing. I can now use both in reaching my goal weight and then to ensure I don't return to the unhealthy eating and lifestyle habits I'm working so hard to discard permanently.

One day at a time, one pound at a time. I am CAPABLE and CAN DO IT !!!

I'm putting my time in at the gym on the Tabata HIIT training on the stationary bike and using the resistance machines. I wanted to maximize my time since I spend one hour 3x a week at the gym. Granted, I've only been at this for a few weeks, but I'm already seeing results.

If I only rely on the scale, I've gained weight. If I go by my clothes, I have toned up everywhere and slimmed down. I mix it up at the gym between various cardio sessions and weights; I add Pilates and Yoga moves in there as well to work on my flexibility and strengthen my core.

Had an individual session with a trainer yesterday. She recommended for me a 30 minute circuit that combines resistance machines with step aerobics in between. Then add some additional for my legs, arms, ankles, and abs about 30 minutes more. Give my body 72 hours before another session. She said for me every other day strength routine was too much. Mix up cardio on the other days at least 30 minutes. Everyone is different though. I'm 64 yo female not too far from my target weight with some arthritis issues from old injuries and also have asthma that if i'm not careful can get out of control again.

I highly recommend seeing a trainer, yes they may be expensive but doing the right routine and doing the exercises correctly can make a huge difference. I go once a week to work out with her and then I do the routine on my own and I can honestly say when I work out with her, I'm so sore the next day, on my own, not so much!

You can't control where your body decides to lose the fat from, we're all different, but I do believe white carbs tend to settle in the belly so eliminating them can help that area but its not a given.

Building muscle will help you lose the weight faster, You obviously can firm up where you want.

Even if you can only afford one lesson with them, It will set you on the right balance of cardio/weights to do.

@Yolanda9179- You always crack me up! I admire your successes, so I always love to hear your 2 cents. I dont wanna lose a cup size, noooooo! Oh well, I already feel so much better, so I know I will feel great about losing this weight. Short shorts, and mini dresses are in my sights as well!!! **I have what I like to call a "sexy clothes bucket list"...

@erwinwarrior-Oh no, not the boobies!! Congrats on your success! You look like a whole new person! I bet you feel amazing!

DarleneW101- That is so awesome that you are hitting the gym, it looks like we both kind of started around the same time. Let stick to it!!!

Sweetalot- I love yoga and pilates, and I will incorporate it into my work out. It is so great to lengthen your muscles, stretch, and center yourself. Thanks for the suggestion!

The gym I go to has a trainer available at no extra charge. She does 5 person classes and also individual sessions. You do have to make an appointment for me it's limited due to her hours and my work hours but she is available for questions and advice during her working hours if she is not in a class or individual session.

@wholefoodnut- I think I will look into a session with a personal trainer, just to get a good feel for what I need to be doing. So far, I have been doing great on the machines! My endurance has skyrocketed since the beginning of February. I run on the treadmill for 25 mins, do the elliptical at 5speed for 35, and bicycle until I surrender (Usually 15mins on level 12). I find that if I watch all of my favorite TV shows, it pumps me up and the time just flies!
I think with a trainer I would be able to get some weights/resistance training in there too.
I hear building muscle helps burn fat faster.

My appointment was really helpful as she geared everything to my goals, my asthma, previous injuries. Even if she is paid by the gym and not the big bucks of a personal trainer her focus was helping me achieve my goals. I know she will help me when I need it in the future. I can also schedule future appointment any time.
