Thanks to both of you for your comments and helpful suggestions. Right now I am seeing an Internist and I am in hopes she can get me on the right track as far as exercise and my leg pain are concerned. I appreciate all the support I can get.

As to the statin that you are taking, I have taken everything on the market with the same results -- severe leg cramping, and the doctor has taken me off of each and every one of them. The Niaspan doesn't work as well or as fast, but I think my cholesterol will come down with weight loss. At least my HDL is very high, so I think that helps.

Good luck to both of you in your efforts to lose weight. Isn't this site great?

Corifeo comment is simple, clear and correct. We all have a tendency to complicate things. I agree, less calories then we need to maintain will cause weight loss.
