I dont know how it happened but I sure pray it continues. I have been away from fatsecrets for about3months. I had gained almost 10lbs since my last weigh in some months back. So I decided to do this again and started researching. I decided to do things differently but I dont know what exactly gave me the weight loss. My total calorie intake yesterday was 1300 cal spread in 4 meals. Including white rice! I also had a cup of chinese greentea. It was bitter and nasty. Not drinking that anymore. My last meal was 4pm. I know thats a little extreme but I intend to make my last meal 6pm. I just wasnt hungry last night. My plan is to drink 3cups of lipton green tea a day. 2 liters of water and 1500 calories of food spread as many times as possibe throughout the day so I dont feel hungry. From past experience, exercising alot makes me more hungry and I tend to eat more so I wont be going to the gym for now. However, my job requires standing for long hours and moving around. I will let you know how it goes. Pls I need some advice cuz I know alot of you are experienced in this. Am I doing things right?

Hate to be the one to break it to you but There is absolutely no clinical proof that this is a weight loss solution. what usually happens with this and all other 'magic' pills , hcg etc. is that the dieter tends to stick to the reduced calorie eating plan more faithfully because they're taking the product. Garcinia Cambogia is traditionally used as a purgative, or a laxative and that might be a small reason why some feel it works for weight loss

If you post your food in the food diary and open it up for all to see would could possibly give you some help but as it is, can't see anything.

My advice is to eliminate processed foods, sugars, white flour, and white starches. Eat clean nutrion based foods and that includes hormone/antibiotic free meats.

As for the green tea, make sure you are not pouring boiling water on the tea bag, after it comes to a boil, unplug the kettle and let it sit for a minute or two. boiling water will bruise the leaves and cause it to be bitter. I also don't let it steep too long.

Honestly, the only things that truly make you lose weight other than a good diet, are an increased heart rate and increased body temperature over a sustained period of time. There are natural things that can do this when you are sedentary such as Caffiene and capsaicin (found in spicy peppers). But commercial fat loss suppliments are nothing more than a scam. There is a reason why the instructions on the box tell you to take them "along with diet and exercise" its because they dont work. Nothing burns fat better than good old fasioned e.x.e.r.c.i.s.e!

Being hungry after excersising just means that your metabolism is working. i see it as a good sign. I would just make sure to eat the right kinds of foods before and after excersising. I usually eat protein rich foods in light amounts before, and then another light meal after to help my muscles build up. then I snack throughout the day until dinner, but only in moderation.

Good on you Roxana. Not enough people realize how important it is to feed their training! Always eat for how you train and train for how you eat!

Bruce, may I suggest that you invest in a good quality casein protein powder? Casein is a slow digesting protein that remains in your stomach for hours (which eliminates hunger), is low calorie, is very low sugar which helps to lower your glycemic index so that you dont crave snacks, and doesn't cause an insulin response. (when your body releases insulin into the blood stream to lower blood sugar levels, it also stimulates fat storage)

Nesis am not going to really comment on your diet, what I will comment on is some basic things you need to know when dieting to lose weight, losing weight is a slow process there are no shortcuts.

So what is weight loss? There are two types of weight loss long-term “fat and muscle loss” and short-term “hydration or liquid loss”. Every pound of fat has 3,500 calories give or take 300 calories. So when you say you have lost 4 pound in one nights you most understand why this is not real weight loss, because there is no way that you lost 4 pound of fat in one night, that is the equivalent to 14,000 calories. Base on the information you have giving me your caloric deficit is too small to account for 14,000 calories loss in one week not even talking about one day so you get a picture I would have to run 140 mile to burn that many calories in one day. So if you do not lower your expectations you will end up like so many people that start a diet wrong, you will lose a lot of weight via hydration loss the first couple of weeks and then your weight loss will slow down until it stops completely not because you stop losing weight “fat” but because your body will start to rehydrate itself, you may even start to go back up in weight for some time and then you will lose motivation.
So my advice to you is one pound to two pounds of weight loss a week is about the average and it’s normally a lot closer to one pound. Try to stay hydrate it’s good for your health.

Are you really hungry Bruce or is it a habit to sit in front of the TV and have a bowl of something infront of you? My best friend cannot watch a movie without a bowl on her lap, it's habit, not hunger. So I made kale chips for her and at least its healthy and crunchy.
Rip up kale into bite size pieces, sprinkle with a tbspn of olive oil, mix well add a little seasoning, I prefer cajun, she likes sea salt, roast in 400 oven for about 6 - 8 minutes don't let it brown or it goes bitter. Let cool and crunch away. You can also do this with any thinly sliced veggies but stay away from the starchie ones.

Some perspective that helps me- a gallon of milk weighs about 8 pounds. That's not a lot of fluid when you consider that most of your body is water, but it's quite a bit of weight. So essentially your body is retaining 1/2 gallon less fluid than yesterday. That's all your overnight reading actually means.

Thank you so very much for all your inputs. I will include exercise and try eating healthy b4 and after exercising. This was really helpful. If the garcinia cambogia tricks me to lose weight then I think it would have saved its purpose so I will still try it too. Thanks for the tip about the tea. I will see how it goes.

Mummydee, garcinia cambogia is not a laxative. Its a fruit extract clinically proven to decrease fat absorption from your diet.

are you sure you want to block fats from your diet? Healthy fats are a very important part of your diet and can actually aid in weight loss. If you think that you eat too much fat, then reduce it through your diet.

I suppose I'm not understanding the point of this suppliment, even if it does what they claim.

Healthy fats are fats that are naturally in foods, not added to them. Any exercise is better than no exercise. Anything that gets your heart rate and body temperature up for a sustained period of time. What matters most is a simple formula: basal metabolic rate + calories burned through exercise > calories eaten. If you want to build a higher basal metabolic rate, then build muscle.

Examples of healthy fats would be avocados, nuts like almonds and nut butters and seeds, olive oil and salmon and other fatty fish.
The fats you want to avoid are the trans fats and the saturated fats, they can be found in many foods including doughnuts, French fries, and baked goods including pastries, pie crusts, biscuits, pizza dough, and stick margarines and shortenings.

okay, then can you give any of those clinicaly proven trials? and not scientists who are hired by the manufacturers or distributors...

Weight loss
In late 2012, a United States television personality, Dr. Oz, promoted Garcinia cambogia extract as a "magic" weight-loss aid. Dr. Oz's previous endorsements have often led to a substantial increase in consumer interest in the promoted products. However, clinical trials do not support claims that Garcinia cambogia is an effective weight-loss aid.[8] A meta-analysis found a possible small, short-term weight loss effect (under 1 kilogram).[9] However, side effects—namely hepatotoxicity—led to one preparation being withdrawn from the market.[10]
A 1998 randomized controlled trial looked at the effects of hydroxycitric acid, the purported active component in Garcinia gummi-gutta, as a potential antiobesity agent in 135 people. The conclusion from this trial was that "Garcinia cambogia failed to produce significant weight loss and fat mass loss beyond that observed with placebo".[11]
