I think you should weigh everyday. I think working to loose 5lbs at a time is easier than looking at the total weight you want to loose. I think if you weigh everyday you know that your goal is 5ls and if you see yourself gaining you can cut back before things get out of control. One or two pounds is easier. This has worked for me for years.

I have always thought it made more sense to weigh every day. It makes it so much easier to pinpoint what you are doing right and what you may have done wrong. If you weigh once a week and you gain 2 pounds, how will you know what you need to change? Was it too many carbs or calories that week? Or could it be just water weight because you ate too much sodium the day before the weigh in? Weighing every day not only keeps me accountable,but makes it easier to see where I need to tweak.

The problem is that you have to understand that your weight naturally fluctuates, and not get too tied to any particular change. If you look at the scale and say, "Oh my god, I gained two pounds! What did I do wrong?" then you're making a horrible mistake. Probably what happened is that you had a little bit more sodium the day before.

Weigh yourself every day, but pay attention to trends over time rather than to daily fluctuations.

I like your point, people fail to realize reasons for their weight gain. Resulting they change their diet plan, not knowing exact reason for it.

Weightloss may stall or I may even gain some grams at times. But I find it very important to keep track of the litle dots in the overall picture.

I agree with Hoser. In addition,if I move one inch from where I stood last weigh in the weights will not agree. I may check out my weight more than once a week, yet I only weigh in on FS once a week or two. That way I have a clear message from the weight graph whether I am maintaining a downward trend, leveled off (or worse,trend up).

I agree with both of you guys, Remember in case you are trying to self regulate then you should consider weigh yourself each and every day to monitor your progress. Some people find this to be a advantage and others say they only frustrated. whichever you select the most essential thing is you fine weight reduce plan that suitable into your lifestyle and one that one that assists you obtain your targets.

I think one of the advantages of weighing every day during intense dieting, is that when you achieve your goal weight it's helpful to be in the habit of daily weighing already. It's AFTER intense dieting is over that small upward shifts in weight become pretty critical to know about and address straight away!

I am not weighing except once per month. For me- I get so discouraged when there is a pound gain I eat bad things and too much. Right now I am sticking to it, easily, and tracking things (food/exercise). If I weight that first time then I can't stop checking.

I think it depends on your goal. For maintenance, I think it is ok, but for losing weight, I think weekly is best. Monitor you calories and activity so you know where you are from the math and there should be no real surprises come weigh-in. Weight just does not fall off fast enough to weigh in daily.

Here's another benefit I have found. I know my bottom half is an 8 and my top half still needs a 12. So, I am not afraid of those numbers!

I'm glad to see the majority of you weigh daily. That has always been my rule. I wake up, pee, undress, weigh - first thing each day to get an accurate weight.
