I've never run before, but have recently been persuaded to take part in a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) with some of my collegues.

First run? 2.55 miles in 35 minutes!! I (I!!) ran for 35 minutes straight! Yay me!

Looking forward to the challenge.

Nice job! You can do this 1/2! I am a coach for a marathon training group in San Jose, CA, and I have seen so many people complete distances they never thought possible. I run very slowly but I have always finished! I also do a run/walk interval, for example run for 5-6 minutes then walk 1 minute, which gives your body a rest but doesn't let your heartrate drop too much so you can start running again more easily. I also use the walk breaks to drink some fluids, so I don't get dehydrated.
My advice to you is to make sure you give yourself enough time to train and don't increase your miles too quickly. When is the 1/2?
Wish you lots of success!

Hi! I've just signed up for my first half-marathon too. Mine's in September. Amber- If you want to buddy-up or if you're willing to share any info you find, please let me know.

Congrats on 2:12 Smile I am attempting a first ever 1/2 this year in October, finishing is my first aim, and finishing before everyone else has gone home would be nice Smile

Congrats again, well done.
