This website is so disappointing!! I've joined challenges, groups, commented on peoples journals and I get no replies. I'm trying to connect with people to make this easier but this site actually seems to be making that harder not easier!!

Hi mamabear! Sometimes it's hit or miss if people reply to your comments and journal entries. I've found here that when new people come on and ask questions that have been answered before or discussed over and over again, regulars and long timers tend to ignore them or suggest to newbies that they search the forum for the information they are looking for. I don't think it's out of rudeness, but just a desire not to go down that road again.

My suggestion would be to send out a few more buddy requests to those people who's insights you enjoy reading in the forum or whose journey/progress you admire or want to learn from. Once you're buddies, I think it's easier to see more activity from each other and make comments. You can also send private messages to some people if you want to talk about any specific topics or create more personal buddy connections. I'd be happy to be a Buddy if you want to add me.

I agree with kkd, it can be hit or miss here. I try to respond to all my buddies journals if possible, but I think we all have had days that you just don't know what to say or are super busy and can read but not respond. I hope you stick around for a while longer.

Keep posting and you may get more responses as some members recognize your name too. I think there are a lot of people who join the site then go away so quickly that some people here have a hard time responding to a post unless that person has been around a while because they don't know if they'll be on the site again to see the response. I'd suggest, if you haven't already, to join some groups and challenges because sometimes that helps you find people you can relate to and you will see who posts a lot and sticks around and you can make some good connections that way.

Good luck!!

I found this site by accident (when i was looking for a place to record my daily nutrition breakdown). Now i use this to record my weight, calories and daily check the forum to answer threads with questions. It gives me a chance to share the knowledge i have gained by numerous hours of reading the net. (what's the use of knowledge if it is not shared?). In time you will find a buddy who can relate to you. Best wishes.

it's also hard to see when someone replies to your posts. i wish fatsecret would send notifications because some may have responded and you dont realize it. i try to journal everyday for myself. that way people/buddies know you are active. there are many who join but dont stick with it. i was one for example. took a break then came back in. it's not to hard to know who they are because they dont actively journal. Good luck and dont give up!
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

I think it's also the time of year. Vacations, kids home from school, yard work etc. I know I haven't been good about tracking, I've been too busy gardening and playing outside Smile

I know, I have been trying to jump in here and there as well, and some forums/groups that look interesting haven't had a post in months or longer. I'm here if you need any support Very Happy

I felt the same way, Mamabear, and almost left. I posted it and also that I'd decided I'd just post for me. It would help me stay on track and feel like I was accomplishing something. Then people started to answer back and now I have several buddies. FS doesn't always send reminders and I don't see most people unless they're a buddy. So don't give up. There are plenty of us who will support you. We can do this together!!
