You can lose mass by eating less food energy (calories) than you expend. Even if it's pure sugar.

However, you'll quickly learn that's not a great idea. Your size depends on the amount of food energy you eat, but your health, body composition, mood, energy levels, and ability to adhere to your diet will depend on the quality of the food you eat. A protein-deficient diet, for example, may cause you to feel much more hungry all the time than you would otherwise. And you will lose more lean mass than necessary. Seeing as how most people looking to get smaller wish to lose body fat, and not just "weight," your body composition matters.

So, technically, yes - eat less energy than you burn and you will get smaller. But the type of food you eat will make a big difference as to how easy the whole process is for you, and how you look and feel when you reach your goal.

At 800 cals you will lose weight I don't care what your eating. I eat steaks all the time but I eat 4oz and I fit it into my budget. If snikers turns you on then go for it just include it and don't fudge your numbers. Calories are King in the diet world.

If your not hungry enough to eat an apple, then your really not that hungry!

You really, really need to be careful eating at that low of a calorie level.

It is very hard to eat right when you are eating so little no matter what sort of food you are eating.

Why don't you see what an online BMR calculator recommends? That'd be a whole lot better than just picking a low number and hoping for the best.

According to your current weight unless you are below 5ft you are already underweight and are looking to become seriously underweight.

If you don't like the shape of your body, then consider weight training exercises. That will reshape your body. It's possible that you just need to tone up and not lose actual weight. If you eat a snickers, then you will have eaten 1/2 your calories right there and be hungry later!

Junk food is not necessary for life. If you want to be health on few calories there is no room for even one bite of junk.

Wow, lets stop with the #'s for a moment and look at this young persons intake and image! you are eating way less than is necessary for your daily intake to be healthy. You are showing 105lbs at present. Why do you feel the need to lose weight? Do you look in the mirror and see a'' fat '' person? do you think that 'bulge' over your jeans is unsightly, (when there really isn't any bulge!) I agree with some posts, if you are not happy with your body image then firm up don't concentrate on weight, throw out the scales and get fit and firm but please dont't think you have to lose weight to be attractive.
quit the processed food that you think are wonderful, i challenge you for two weeks to do this, then see how you feel... they are not that wonderful........ eat pure chocolates, after that. I guarantee that one square of pure 85% chocolate will taste like heaven and is so much better than that processed crap you think you like now,pls give it 2 weeks. try it, what have you got to lose? but weight?

That was my concern MummyDee.

105lb is at the bottom edge of the healthy weight scale for anyone over about 4'6"... Anyone above that is already going to be underweight. Which means this is either a child, or is well below average height.

If you are a minor, then I have serious issues with you using a site like this. Dieting as a child has serious implications and should be done under the supervision of someone qualified to ensure you are getting the proper nutrition you need.

I am very concerned for you Dalia. I was anorexic in the 80's and I know what you're thinking. You are very close to anorexia and it's a very scary place to go. Please stop now. Get healthy and your body image will change. I was skin and bones but no muscle, and very unhealthy... bad skin, hair falling out, many ailments... and i still thought i was fat. Please don't go that route.
Build muscle, get firm, throw the scales out. You will weigh more with firm muscle but be much healthier.

Umm, Dalia, I think the main question here that we need to know the answer to so we can give you correct advice to help is:

"How old are you??"

I'm guessing you're a young teen. That's cool if you are, but we aren't able to give solid help if we don't know for sure. Smile

I agree with the above postings. You weigh 105.8 pounds and your goal is 88 pounds?
Stay strong, stay focused.

Start weight 259 pounds. Ultimate goal: 120 pounds.
