I know sugar cravings. There was a point were I didn't understand people who said "oh, that is to sweet." People would say just have an apple or fruit to fill sugar cravings... and I would think "what that isnt gonna cut it, babe!!" I am thinking, babe, you need to move over I think I see a gummie bear on the floor. OKay not that bad but I would walk/bike/run 2 miles to the store to get a pack of gummie bears.
I've learned that any prepackaged "diet food" no matter who makes it... doesnt satisfy my sugar cravings and doesnt satisfy me either.
The only things that works to cure sugar cravings is a week with no dairy, no meats, very little fruit, no processed foods, and no restaurants. Over time when I notice sugar cravings creeping back in I just start again.
I've got it down to about 3 days of juicing/green smoothies AND 8-10 (24oz sports bottles of water) My favorite juice for this is 2 handfuls spinach, 1 handful of parsley, 1 cucumber, 1 lime, a hint of ginger and 2-3 stalks of celery pour over salted ice. It's like drinking a strongly mixed margarita with lots of tequila over ice.... you like the lime and tolerate the rest and by the 3 one you really kinda like it.
I also when I need more go for the blender and mix up 1 avocado, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 lime and water / coconut water if I can find it. (blend spinach and water a few times first till liquid) If I need more I eat nuts. I'll also keep a quinoa / lime / avocado / grape tomatoes / a little cilantro / minced litely sauteed zucchini in the fridge...usually I can make the 3 days without it if my activity is light.
3-7 days and I slowly add in other food groups. I pretended to run and science experiment with my own body. First what food groups, what foods with in that/those groups, and then I've worked my way through processed/restaurant foods. Once you've gone through this process a few times you figure out what foods trigger that sugar cravings. Usually the first signs for me are sleepless nights or the need for Tums.
When it fails / falls apart for me is when I get stress, feel a time crunch and stop listening to what my body is really asking for.
I didnt know that hunger cravings are like the Ritcher Scale for earthquakes. It's logarithmic, meaning that whole-number jumps indicate a tenfold increase. So a 1 is say a 10, 2 is a 100, 3 is 1000, 4 is 10000..and so on. So, when we dont give our bodies something healthy when we sense that 1. Well we get a little grumble 2, then it grumbles a lot 3.... That is our bodies hormone signals for food. Everytime we ignore it and it fades away for and it comes back on a higher Hunger Richter Scale Level. This is a good portion of why starvation and older diet methodology dont work. Every time we go up on that Hunger Richter Scale the message for more calories, more calories and fat, more calories, fat and carbs, more calories, fat, carbs and sugars. Our body is trying then to protect it's self from starvation. Get the quickest most densely packed calories so I can quickly feed you now and store fat away so we dont starve like this again. That system worked great for the last 8000++ years, but we've gotten really good at farming/storing food. Anyways, I knew people said keep healthy snacks handy, but that put a whole new spin on it... for me anyways.
I think no ONE diet works for everyone. I used to think I need to loss it all NOW. Then I look back at years of dieting and said a few weeks/months of investing is worth it. Experiment...
Why did I pick greens/veg? What plan tells you NO to greens and veg? Even hunter/gathers world wide had greens, veg and nuts.
Well, the green things stops my sugar cravings. Just something to think over.
