My weight has yo-yoed over the last few years, mainly due to pregnancys. I've been doing really well with eating well and exercising the last couple of months. Has far as calories in and calories out I should be losing close to 3 pounds a week. for some reason I'm only losing 1 pound a week and it is getting very frustrating. I've never experienced this for so many consecutive weeks. What is wrong with my body?

Nothing is wrong with you. I wanted to say losing 3lbs/week is a lot, but we do have people on this site who do exactly that by strict dieting and documenting every bite they take and exercising. Me... I'm lucky if I lose 1 lb/wk. I exercise quite a bit when able (with the exception of this past week) and am building muscle. So weight loss is nil. But losing body size. Down to a size 38 mens jeans/pants from a 44-46.

Got a tape measure? Measure yourself. Then measure in a month and see a difference. That's the one way I really saw I was losing fat. Yeah, would love to lose more per week, but a lb./wk. is very good and healthy.

A number of things could account for the drop in weight loss. Are you documenting everything you eat? Keeping track of your calories eaten and those you burn off? Have you changed your diet?

I have a friend who claimed she only ate the equivalent of what her 4 year old grandson ate at meals. Didn't document the things she was snacking on, or tasting while cooking. Ever do the "just a bite" thing? Those little things do add up. Her's added up to over 600 calories/day. Salt will slow weight loss.

Check your diet. Only you can determine what has changed. We have to be honest with ourselves. And it's brutal at times. But the honesty keeps us on track.

I did look at your daily entries and wonder if you're eating enough. Seems a lot of us keep cutting back thinking we'll lose weight or lose more weight and we're only sabotaging ourselves. I upped my calories after hitting a plateau and began losing again. Slowly, but that's okay. That's what I want.

Stay motivated to your routine and stop procrastination. Because you have already some lose. Check back your routine plane and look for any missing thing that you her not doing... you can help yourself by drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day to flush some metabolisms which will help you to lose weight easily.

Like ClassicRocker said, 1 lb. a week is good and healthy. Don't be disappointed in yourself for losing, you should be happy for every pound gone. When were you able to lose 2-3 lbs a week, was it recently, or a few years ago? As we get older it can get harder to lose too. Just keep doing what you're doing though because you are losing, so that means you're doing something right.

The other thing you may look at is the calories in, calories out. Make sure you're recording everything that goes in, and if you're only using the exercise tracker here I think it estimates high, so beware of that, but you also have to be completely honest there too. So for example, if you walk for 50 mins., don't round up to an hour, you may even want to cut a few mins. off because of the higher estimates here. Good luck!!

I looked at your food journal. I personally would start replacing empty calorie foods with nutrient rich ones. They are more filling and typically less calories. Sure you can eat what you always have been eating but just less of those foods but it's so much easier if you pick nutrient rich foods(quality proteins, good fats, lots of veggies, berries, nuts), you'll have less cravings, less hunger, feel great and lose weight. If I had a frozen waffle for breakfast, within an hour I'd be looking for more food. Better choices are eggs, cottage cheese, I also love steel cut oats mixed wtih 1/2 cup fresh berries, vanilla, cinnamon and crushed walnuts. I also eat veggies with nearly every meal. They are lower in calories and are very filling.
this damn tracker below hasn't been right in months! My current weight is 137!

Thanks for all the advice. I was losing at a faster rate last summer. I try to be as accurate as possible for my calorie intake and making small changes as far as the quality of food I'm eating. I also don't input all my activity. I don't input my normal activities just my intentional exercise. Even with that I underestimate the intensity. I am currently walking 45 minutes a day at 2.5 MPH with an incline. I log it as walking at 2mph.
Lol I also am chasing around 3 preschoolers all day that doesn't get logged.

It sounds like you may need to change something about your diet. It happens...you reach a plateau and can't lose more weight. Also, how much exercise do you get? An increase in activity will surely help boost metabolism, which in turn, will drive your body to burn more.

As far as dieting...every BODY is different; it will take some time for you to figure out what foods really work for you, however, it is best to have a diet that is 50% produce, and 25% each of protein and starch; no caffeine or snack food at night.

The other consideration would be taking supplements. I just read a review about such a supplement called Plexus. It was initially designed specifically for Type 2 diabetics. Anyhow, the reviewer, a running coach, really seems positive about it...see the link below.

I tell people who plateau to skip breads and pastas for a few days and this also holds true on losing....

Check the sodium and sugar content of the foods you are eating....you might be surprised.........skip all breads and pasta for a few days.... eat veggie soup....eat berries which have the least impact on blood sugar and veggies as they can also hydrate you.

Try to eat 1,000MG of salt or less per day and see the pounds start coming off once again... Cumin revs weight loss, so substitute cumin for salt.
