Don't weigh yourself every day ... your weight fluctuates. Better to weigh yourself once a week.

First off.... it is a number. It does not define you. Try weighing once or twice a week instead of everyday, that might help. I understand having the scale dictate my moods, but I had to understand that I am in control, not the scale and that I can always do better today. I had to change my mindset. I weigh everyday, but I know that I will see fluctuations on the scale. I do it because I can catch any serious weight gain right away and see what I did differently from the day before. But remember, the number on the scale does not define you!

If I were you, Id be having serious words with that little monster!! Stand up for yourself, dont put up with it....... and if all else fails refuse to talk to it for a few days! Treat it like a man in your life..... hear it when its nice, go deaf (n blind) when it isnt. They both soon learn to be good! lol lol

I'm right there with you, I hate my scale and that I let it set my mood for the day. Even days I feel great when I wake up, if the scale is the up (or the same) it kills my good mood. I am trying to only weigh once a week. . .I've made it one day of not getting on it and it was hard not to get on it. Think I need to hide it or at least get it out of the bathroom!

I just started back on Weight Watchers today so I weighed today but I am not going to weigh again (I hope) until next Tuesday. Especially since WW is a much slower weight loss than Atkins (which I have been on for 2 years). No sense in weighing on WW everyday when it won't go down as fast anyway.

The emotions of dieting can be a real stumbling block if we let them. The scale, the emotional ties to food, the real or imagined deprivation we sometimes feel, all these things can cause us so much grief if we focus on them. The trick for me was to pin point exactly what's bothering me and why. Is it the isolation I feel when everyone else is indulging? Is it because I let a little piece of equipment dictate how I'm going to feel for the rest of the day? Then decide how to make it better. I need to reflect on what's good in my life for a few minutes each morning and that helps set the tone for the day!

I got rid of my scale. No joke! I'm going by how my clothes fit. I weigh myself no more than once every week or two weeks, at the gym at work. (I don't work out there, at least not so far -- I'm a total couch potato! I just go in to use their scale.)
Drop-kick that lousy scale, if it's making you miserable. You don't owe it anything! IMHO, scale weight isn't nearly as important as other measurements, like body fat composition, blood pressure, or waist measurement.
Hope this helps -- best of luck to you! Smile

I do weigh everyday. The scale used to bother me but I started to chart my weight. Now I can look back and see patterns and know what is going on. TOM causes water weight gain of up to 5 lbs for me. I know this so now when it hits I do no get upset. I also know after TOM it takes a few days to get back down to losing again. I use a small calendar, some people use a spreadsheet app. Helps a lot. You know a big bounce is just water weight cause by foods you may have eaten or TOM, salt intake, etc.
