Eat more, but eat nutritious low-calorie foods. If you're hungry all the time then you're doing it wrong.

I eat only low calorie, low fat foods. But I get hungry mid afternoon and late evening.

are you eating enough proteins? or are you eating low calorie but high carb stuff? that makes a huge difference. proteins and fats will stay with you longer and make you feel full , simple carbs give you instant energy but last a very short time and then your brain craves them again.

Plan your calorie budget so that you can have mid-afternoon and late-evening snacks. Fresh fruits and veggies are good for this.

Nutrition is more important than calories. If most of the calories you're eating are empty, it's not going to do you much good even if you're not eating that many. Also, nothing wrong with healthy fats. Simple carbs and foods with refined/added sugar is something you should worry about more.

Also, it could mean you need more calories than you think.

Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. Make sure you are balancing enough protein with a carb. Maybe you aren't getting enough "good" fat. The body needs some fat. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

Lowfat diets make you hungry, cause inflammation, heart disease, diabetes and many other diseases, including Alzheimer's.
Adopt a low carb, medium protein, high fat diet for blood sugar and insulin control. Insulin is the key to weight loss and hunger control. Keep it as low as possible for weight control, hunger control and inflammation control. You will be much healthier, too!

Eat more protein with fat. It is the fat that slows the blood sugar rise which slows the insulin response.
The fat also gives you energy and satiety which lasts for hours, thereby decreasing overall calorie intake.
Every cell in your body needs fat!
The Standard American Diet is another SAD way the government has led us down the wrong road, either accidentally or intentionally.

If you're hungry, you are eating the wrong foods or combination of foods (too many refined carbs vs proteins or nutrient dense foods). Good nutritional food is filling. Low-fat is a recipe for failure. We need some fats, just a balance of omega 3 and 6 (most people eat mainly omega 6 through animal meats, packaged/processed foods). We can't see what you are eating through your profile, so all we can do is guess but if you are eating stuff that comes out of a box or that is pre-prepared, that is why you are hungry.
this damn tracker below hasn't been right in months! My current weight is 137!

Embrace the hunger. It's okay. I was feeling hungry all the time myself. I ate a lot of low calorie high fiber foods, but still hungry, drink 100 oz. water, eat lots of veggies... About a month or so ago, I decided to try IF (intermittent fasting). Basically I stopped eating around 7:30-8pm and didn't eat again until around noon the next day. I did it gradually- basically up at 5am, workout, work at 7am. I started pushing breakfast to later and later each day until I reached noon. And wouldn't you know it, I learned to manage the hunger. I did this for a few weeks, but have decided to eat breakfast around 9:30-10am. I'm hungry, but definitely not all the time and it is much more manageable now that I have learned I am not going to die or starve or pass out. I can handle the hunger, it's okay. It's not true hunger- unless you are truly without access to food, you will not know true hunger. It's psychological at this point. Good luck.

So true! I eat my 3 main meals a day with two snacks, mid morning and mid afternoon. After dinner if I am still hungry cause I ate not so good I lean towards some fruits or a glass of almond milk. I never feel hungry. Plus I drink about 10 bottles of water a day.
1st Goal: 150 lbs
2nd Goal: 135 lbs
3rd Goal: 125 lbs

Listen flhusker, you say you are eating low fat and low calories....so I will say if you aren't already drinking 8 glasses of water a day try top drink two glasses of water with your meals... this will give you a full feeling along with deliver nutrients to your body and expel the toxins. I personally am trying to lose the fast and gain muscle so I eat 40/40/20 in each meal so that I get a rounded meal at all times. If you are hungry than eat but a little advice, my weight loss is on auto pilot when I don't easy past 7 o'clock....started at 225 and will break 200 barrier tonight.

If your aren't logging or have your preferences set to private it makes it very hard to give specific help. But as others have said, if you are hungry... Eat more!

Drink water - Your body gives the same signal (i.e. hunger) when you are dehydrated, drink a glass of water when you feel hungry and it will help.

Try Quinoa

Quinoa is loaded with energy vitamins, high in fiber and high in protein and Quinoa is relatively low on the glycemic index and is a complex carb, It should help with having fewer cravings for sugary foods and hunger.

Substitute quinoa in dishes that call for pasta or rice and it can be eaten as a cereal. Mix it with strawberries and yogurt for a filling desert. It is also gluten free.

An apple also will help control hunger as phytonutrients in apples can help you regulate your blood sugar and slow down carb digestion help keep you full longer.

What I don't get is when I follow my diet religiously I gain but when I cheat lime yesterday having pizza I lose.

Now that I have my surgery date for knee replacement I need to get off a few more pounds.

It sounds like you are not eating enough. If you don't eat , your metabolism will slow or shut down. I agree eat 3 meals, and 2 snacks each day. Make breakfast priority. I have found eating oatmeal for breakfast with a tbs of chia seeds keep me feeling full until my morning snack. Also drink lots of ice water.
