This isn't a topic we like to discuss, but has anyone else had problems with being regular while dieting. I have had a terrible time and have had to resort to using aids to be able to go. I realize food intake is less, but there should be some movement. If you know of a natural solution please let me know. Thanks.

Hello. Due to meds from 2 surgeries, was always constipated. Drink more water. That is what helped me these last few weeks.

Yep, my gut has certainly slowed down. But on asking my doctor I was informed that being "regular" isn't as important as people think. So long as you go every 2-3 days and aren't uncomfortable then you will be fine.

Longer than 2-3 days or uncomfortably bloated with no signs of movement (which I've been a few times in the couple of months) then I use a natural senna supplement taken at about 7pm.

Also after yesterday's lunch apparently 4lb of salad will get you moving. But I'm not sure I can honestly recommend it. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Down from 60" waist jeans since June 21st 2012.

Still keeping to my 26" jeans, but they are too tight for comfort. too many tasty things in the US, and over Xmas.

At least 2 liters of water a day and regular portions (2 large cups) of high-fiber vegs, like broccoli or red cabbage, usually gets things moving along nicely. Wink

Everyone has their own version of regularity. I am a pharmacist and get questioned about this all the time. Most people think if they don't go everyday, it's a problem. Not the case. For some it's once a week, some couple times a day. As long as you are taking in enough fluids and not in pain or uncomfortable. Don't worry about it.

I had this problem big time last week. Was so uncomfortable that I had to leave work early and right to the store to buy prunes. I was already drinking plenty of water. Things got a little better over the following 24 hours but not completely, so I had to take an over the counter gentle Correctol tablet, which helped a lot about 12 hours afterward.

I have noticed that since we began eating a lot cleaner, less processed, and lower calorie, that I need to go less frequently. I thought I should be going like I did before, 3, even 4 times a day, but now I believe that my body is just able to use a lot more of the food that goes into it and therefore makes less waste. I prescribe to the belief that if you aren't hurting or getting bloated everything is fine. Lots of water, fiber, etc. Coincidentally, when we started eating cleaner, we decided our dogs should eat cleaner too and switched them to a food that the main ingredient is chicken and healthier stuff. Costs a ton more, but they want to be healthy too, right? So, anyway, I have noticed that there is a lot less poo to pick up! So maybe, their bodies are making less waste as well! It's a theory!
