Can't find any discussions here about activity trackers, so I thought it might be useful to shout it out from the rooftops...they rock!
Since i started using my fitbugorb I have lost weight regularly and I feel great. There are lots of trackers out there, but i like this one for lots of reasons.Has anyone else had a good or bad experience with one of these.

It's a button sized clip on device, like a pedometer. The system measures your activity and then gives you tasks and programs to follow to increase your levels of activity. This with the dietry advice they also provide should keep the weight off.All of your progress can be sent to your iphone or any bluetooth device. You can even get scales that send your weight to your iphone.
It's like having a personal trainer at a fraction of the cost.

Hi Availles, there are so many devices out there for tracking that the only way the fitbugorb stands out is because of the low cost. It competes with the Fitbit zip on price and so far that seems to be much more popular.

Not just cheaper than fitbit, it also is smaller, can clip to my bra with a magnetizer. As they say, the tracker you forget you are wearing is the most effective.
Loads of useful info here.

I have a fitbit ultra and it works great. I did look at the fitbug which is less expensive, but from what I'm reading you have to subscribe to something in order to use it? there is a cost to that. could you explain how that works?

The fitbit may be more $$, but once you have it - you don't pay anything beyond that. It syncs with your iphone etc and also your computer. I'm just interested in to know all I can about all the devices out there.

I use the fitbit ultra. I looked at the URgravity site. They want money to do what fitbit does for free. My fitbit syncs to my computer when I'm within a few feet. No cost. the only thing the fitbit doesn't due is record your food intake. wouldn't that be nice? this site you recommended doesn't seem to do much more than the fitbit site does. for $9.99 per month? I'll stick with the free fitbit site.

As for your activity not being monitored well because you say you don't get up and move much? maybe I misunderstood. Fitbit (which I clip on my bra strap) monitors your steps, your sleep, your activity level, calories burned etc. once you buy it, as I mentioned earlier, the cost of monitoring is free. I guess they do have some upgrade, but I'm not sure what that does. The fitbit is so small that I have a tendency to forget I have it on. I wish it had a tracking device for when I take it off and forget where I put it.... It clips on kind of like a money clip. It's VERY snug and secure. You have to make a concerted effort to remove it. I'm not sure I'd like the magnetized device. I'd be afraid I might lose something like that, but I do agree - the best device is one you forget you have on..........

@Rachael161, Hi, URGravity doesn't make health sensing devices, they use the data that these devices collect and find patterns in your data and then allow you to share it with your health professionals(Doctor, Personal Trainer, Dietician, Nutritionist). They support the best devices on the market and let you choose the ones that work best for you. Each of the sensors has its strengths and weaknesses; pick the one that works best for you. Some go on our bicep, your wrist or can be clipped just about anywhere to your body as Ss253 pointed out. Here's a link to more info. http://www.urgravity.com/Home/FAQ?Length=4. They also work directly with the manufacturers to pass along any savings they get to you. http://www.urgravity.com/Store. It also uses the FatSecret service to manage your diet and calories.

@Ss253, Hi, The Fitbit basic service is free. It collects a bunch of information from the sensor. It even puts this information in a graph for you. While this is interesting it doesn't help you reach your health goals, it isn't actionable. Fitbit has a paid service that does some of this for you but Fitbit is primarily in the business of selling devices, and they make some great devices.

URGravity focuses on making you healthy - Starting with your activity level, your diet, your weight, your blood pressure and your sleep patterns. Scientific studies have shown that while just about anyone can lose weight and improve their health these gains are often lost because people don't change their habits. URGravity identifies those patterns and helps you make good decisions so that the hard work you put into getting healthy isn't wasted. I know, I've lost 45 pounds using the service and have kept it off for more than a year now. They offer a free 30 day trial that lets you use all of the service features.

Fit Bit
Hi. I have been using this app with much success for several months. For now, it only syncs the calories burned from Fitbit to FatSecret. Will be cool if one day it will sync the calories eaten per day ...
