Confused There has got to be a way to shed some pounds! After a late in life pregnancy (age 46) that didn't go full term, I just can not get my weight back under control. I need some way to control it and lose about 30-35 lbs! Been trying 9 years and still haven't been able to do it on my own. Just gained 10 more pounds. So I need to have an accountability group that I can talk to about this. My husband is very visual and isn't pleased that I can't seem to lose weight, and he is not very supportive of a diet friendly meal at home, so I am trying to do this with no support here. He doesn't want to walk or exercise, so no couples activities either. I just feel lost trying to do this myself.

Sorry to hear that you do not have the support at home that you need. I just joined fatsecret but have been doing Atkins for over a year. I am still trying to navigate this site. I have lost a total of 38lbs and have 12 to go. I would suggest that if you really want to lose it do it for you and not to please someone else. If you put your mind to it you can achieve your ultimate goal. You will have ups and downs along the way( we all do) but you will learn from them and still be able to continue. I started working out by myself at a gym and found out that the more you workout the better you feel about yourself.I am in better shape now at 42 than ever. Just start off however you can; a short walk even around the neighborhood. Hopefully you can find the support and encouragement you need here.

I agree. My husband doesn't diet. He still eats what he's always eaten. I had to do it by myself, for myself. It's hard. This fatsecret community makes it easier though. Also, getting yourself into a routine helps a lot. Preparing healthy breakfasts, packing healthy lunches and having extra healthy options on hand for emergencies is key for me.
I'm back on track!
Lost 50 lbs. in 2011, gained a bit back after pregnancy.
If did it once, I can do it again!

If the only reason you are doing it is for someone other than yourself, you are doing it for the wrong reason. If you do it for YOU, then you will be proud of your accomplishment! First, you gotta love yourself and believe in yourself enough!! You can do itSmile I started my journey on March 30, 2012 and weighed in at 193; within 6 months I lost 65lbs and met my goal, it has been 13 months and I have managed to maintain it so far. It is a daily lifestyle change...but it can be done!Very Happy

Thank you all for the support. I really needed that encouragement from you! I am so determined to do this and defeat the weight problem. I can't even begin to tell you how much it bothers me that my "good" clothes just don't fit ... not even close either. I got up to 178 a few months ago and just said enough... I have been cutting back just to stop the weight gain from continuing. I finally seemed to level off at between 169 and 172, now I need to push myself harder and get beyond that plateau. I want to do it for myself, and also for my husband, and you are all so very right... it has to be for me. I hope you will stay with me on this journey, even if it is a long and lifetime struggle.

Suzygirl.... how did you post that First Goal graph line with your message? I want to do something like that to see a visual reminder of my goals.
