I've been doing the 5:2 plan by Micheal Mosely and am loving it. You can see his documentary, just google "Eat, Fast and Live Longer". Here's also a link to an article but it doesn't do his short film justice. It does have the "rules" of this sort of fasting.

It's Lent and there are many fasting days so this fits right into my lifestyle. My non-fast/feed days are not junk filled. I love healthy food (my body response to it so well) so it's no problem for me to eat strange things Smile but apparently that's not necessary. My neighbor is now trying it. In a couple of months when we see our doctors we'll see if we've also achieved the health benefits that are supposed to happen (lower choesterol, lower blood sugar, etc).
this damn tracker below hasn't been right in months! My current weight is 137!

Hi I have tried the fasting diet a couple of times but I had awful side effects from it so had to stop but there is a website with a forum on for people who want to check it out it's called 5:2 diet

Yes there isn't a lot of science published out there showing all of the effects alternate day fasting has on humans. But it takes years to get a paper peer-reviewed and published (I am marrying a scientist and worked in a psychology/neuroscience lab---it is a long process). The research that is out there, is promising though (see the links on my blog). This is why I started an alternate day fasting diet and started blogging about it.

This diet isn't for everyone. But for people like me that are overweight and have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, and other weight, diet, and age-related diseases I think it is worth a try if you are healthy enough to do the fasting portion. Especially since traditional diets with calorie-restriction everyday make one feel deprived, which is why people quit them.

I have been doing a modified version of IF for 3 weeks now, although I don't go as low as 500 kcals on fasting days, because I work a very physically strenuous schedule and I was feeling lightheaded and weak-I can't be like that at work. On fasting days I eat between 2-8pm, 1200 kcals is the target, which is 50% of my RDI. On non-fasting days, I stay within my RDI and on my 2 days off, where I am sitting on my ass for most of the day, I stay 500kcals lower than RDI. Not too sure of the health benefits as I haven't been doing it long enough to tell. I have lost 7 lbs and am way more aware of what I am sticking into my pie-hole, so I'll take it.

Funny, I love it. I cared for a lady one time she told me to shut my pie hole. She has passed she was from England I love her to pieces. I laugh when I use the pie hole phrase. Watch that pie hole and it will keep coming off. Great workSmile

Some of you may find this interesting. If you don't, don't make negative comments, please. Muslims have been prescribed to fast 2 days a week (from sunrise to sunset) for the past 1400 years. It is completely optional, but I know many Muslims that do that on weekly basis. It is a weekly cleanser. Then there is the month-long fast (Ramadan) which supposedly does a deeper body cleanse.
