I have this Birmingham hospital cardio unit diet, 3 days on 4 days off.
example of one day- breakfast 1/2 grapefruit 1 slice toast w 1 tbsp of peanut butter, lunch- 1/2 can of plain tuna 1 slice bread. dinner 3 oz meat 2 cups string beans 1cup carrots 1small piece of fruit1 cup ice cream yup I said ice cream. now I don't recommend this diet because its extreme but again I am having surgery and they are worried I wont make it through the anastesia again I weigh 315. never did this diet just hope I can follow it closely

Hi, I know that one well. I found after the 3rd day I was weak & ended up pigging out like a madman. I still ended up losing about 4lb for the week though, but I was also working 7 days a week as a Scaff which I'd say caused the weakness.

If you take things easy you should be fine, plus I take it the hospital is only a call away just in case you need advice?

Good luck & be well.

Not to be a party pooper, but the only way you can lose 40 lbs of fat is to have a calorie deficit of approx. 140,000 calories. Divided into 30 days, you'd need to have a daily calorie deficit of 4,600, WITHOUT your body starving and hitting a plateau.

I seriously doubt that ANYONE can do that for 30 days straight.

I went from morbidly obese to being the owner of TABDIG - a weight loss coaching service that helps people worldwide losing weight. It's been an amazing journey. From October 4th 2010 to April 3rd 2012 I lost half my body weight - 80 kilos/170 lbs. Since then, I have had two cosmetic surgeries to remove excess skin. I have now quadrupled my strength, gained several kilos in muscle mass, and today I focus on building muscle, optimizing my diet, living healthy and helping people to reach the very same goals. I am stronger, healthier, thinner, happier! If you feel that you need help losing weight, don't hesitate to send me an inbox message.

astro505, looks like you lost 4 lbs. in a little over a week? How is that a failure? Sounds great to me. I know you have a deadline to lose a large amount of weight before an upcoming surgery, but you should try to be realistic. The defeatist mentality of calling yourself a "failure" after trying to lose an unrealistic amount of weight in a short period of time sounds like a recipe for disaster for your self esteem and motivation. If your doctor won't even look at you and speaks about you rather than to or with you, then I would recommend a new doctor. You don't need medical professionals setting you up for failure and then treating you poorly for any reason!

If your doctor told you you were going to lose 40 pounds in a month, he has no business being involved in weight management or nutrition. You need a new doctor.

What e said. He needs to get an education regarding weight loss.

thank you everyone he does think he is god. but he is one of the best doctor for kidney removal . he said because of my weight he will have to do it through the back witch is harder because it is like doing surgery backward. wow that made me feel comfortable. I did something write though .. even after I posted that post I went on to track my food. I will continue to try and do my best after this surgery it will be my 3rd in a year and a half. wonder why I haven't been motivated to exercise. I have started to walk and no more crazy diets just going to try and stay within the calories that fat secret tells me. I am going to leave the rest up to the real god to protect me. but what I do know is fat or not I am still a good person and should be treated like one...

Astro... don't give up. Just do the best you can. And know you gave it everything you've got. There are other doctors around who would do the surgery without the outrageous demands.

You will be in my thoughts.

Sounds like you need a new doctor...regardless of the situation, that is not how a doctor should act. And please...PLEASE don't let anyone treat you like that. Speak up for yourself. Yes you didn't complete what he expected of you, but you aren't a failure, you are simply struggling.
