Yeah I wondered why you hadn't posted much, I'm looking to take it to the next level in terms of getting super ripped for summer and I don't think this is the place to do it.

No i think you have acomplished your goal for this site and now need to find another site specific to body toning. I knowi wont be where i was physically, those are the cards you get dealt in life, but i won't be unfit just restricted. I will miss the country yomps and 3 peaks but it wont get me down as i will find other challenges to do within my limitations... Might have to get the bike out and start doing time trials again like when i was 16 lol...Smile

Lotta half cock, bang going on here. I don't believe anyone was saying anything disparaging Sandy in any way. I for one was addressing the spammer.

If you believe the hype from a decade or three ago, acid water makes you thinner. Just add cider vinegar. But there's no profit in this.

1.The acid water comment was a gag!

2. if you Google lemon juice on the interweb many say the overall impact of adding it to water is to make it more alkaline despite it being 5% citric acid, whether it has magical powers is not confirmed

Lemon juice acts as a natural diuretic. It is recommended to drink in hot water for that effect to be most beneficial. So if you drink some, then you might see some fluid loss, but in large quantities can be dangerous. It can affect your electrolytes if you drink too much.

By the way, lemon juice contains a lot of citric acid. If anything it will make water more acidic rather than more alkaline.

Just my two cents, there is currently no evidence that I could find that says it hurts to drink alkaline water, but there also isn't any indication that it actually helps. Simple high school biology here: Your stomach acid will neutralize the pH of the water so it really doesn’t do anything once it hits your stomach. The nutrition conscious side of me here: If you were able to change your blood pH this way you would rapidly develop metabolic alkalosis; not a fun trip.

Great question sandyland212, I'm also shocked at the replies, Brimel, good for standing up for what you believe. I'm not going to back the claim that Alkaline water has any affect on producing weightloss however, if you study human chemistry and the relation to the typical North American diet, you will find most overweight North Americans suffer from a state of acidosis. Ideally, your body’s (blood) pH level should be around 7.365, which is slightly alkaline from a neutral pH which is 7.

We, in the western world, are inundated with acid forming foods such as sugar, dairy, fried food, fast food, over cooked food, coffee, sodas, canned and highly processed foods such as breakfast cereals, snack crackers, cookies, chips and white bread. Fast foods and prepared foods often have too much sugar, salt, starches and saturated fats which lead to acidosis of you blood.

On top of dietary influences, prescription & illegal drugs, anxiety & stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, some household chemicals and personal care products and in cases, the environment, can all have acid affects on your body.

When your body’s pH level shifts slightly more to the alkaline side, your body is able to balance your pH by metabolizing fat stores (acid source). It takes approximately 4 units of alkalinity to neutralize 1 unit of acid, therefore our diets should contain a similar ration of foods from the alkaline side of the food chart (acid/alkaline food chart -- Google it) in comparison to those foods that create an acid effect on our body. Some experts say to target 80% alkaline foods at every meal. I don't see how alkaline water could be a bad thing if it aids in achieving a healthier balance. Link to Food Charts at my website as well. Faron.

Funny side note: my icon is a slice of watermelon which is highly alkaline. When I lost 70lbs, watermelon became a staple snack for me.

Confused

I think this is really sad. The person only asked a simple question, was not selling or making any claims and gets trashed. From what i have read its water which is treated by ionization to remove impurities and makes no claim to fat loss but improves dehydration. The referred clinical test was to see if it assists in cancer therapy not fat loss. As for research funding all research is funded by commerce and government else it would never happen. People do get hung up on research from their peers and even when it is given it will be Poo pooed as there is always another peer with another view. How many people can actually understand and quantify the results of a clinical trial. At the end of the day you won't be halmed drinking it, if you like it and feel ok with it then carry on. And stop calling people names, iits childish, it achieves nothing and detracts from the actual topic

Confused I'm with you johnnybadback. A little more tolerance please.

if it's possible to make our water more acidic naturally & cheaply with Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.

Is there a natural & cheap alternative to making our water more alkaline?

I don't have anything to sell. Like I said in my post, if you could read, that a man was selling it to us. I wanted to see if anyone had heard of or knew anything, possibly any experience with the stuff. I thought this was a community of people who cared and with the same problems as me, however, what I have found is a bunch of ASSHOLES with closed minds who apparently know it all. So you get lost you dick head. And that goes for all the rest of you mean ugly people. I hope you stay fat because you will definitely stay ugly!

Amen! Sorry, there are a few here who lack some serious social skills and when you find out how old they are it's even more pathetic. It's great to debate but no need to be nasty.

My husband's uncle sells this system. He swears by it and claims the water is better "absorbed" supposedly balances your PH levels and has all sorts of health benefits as a result. He had all his children drink the water for months. All of them are athletes, one is even a professional triathlete. It did NOTHING for them (health or performance--none of them are overweight) but they are confident there was nothing special about this water. One cousin did say that he felt a little more "hydrated" but other than that, is not worth the heavy price tag. Hope that helps.

I'm sure there's something that would make water more alkaline, but you could achieve the same effect (or more) simply by taking a couple of Tums every day. I can guarantee that it will be a lot cheaper than alkaline water systems.

There are also some condescending ignorant morons who patronise people about their age because they judge everyone by their own misguided standards and lack of basic knowledge.

These people are so ignorant that they then try to CHANGE HISTORY by deleting their own DUMB posts from the thread as if what they said can be erased and then have the cheek to resurrect their pathetic comments in another thread having CHICKENED OUT OF THE ORIGINAL THREAD in which they spouted their BS.

By doing this they confirm that wisdom and age do not necessarily go hand in hand and prove them to be a gutless hypocrite[/quote]

Thank you for proving my point. I stand by my original comments, you're an asshole.
