Never had to watch my weight before. This is a first I don't like but I'm going to give it s shot. My friends think I'm crazy but I have gained about 10 pound since I retired in 2007. I had two major surgeries last year and just can't be as active as I used to be plus I love my beer. Guess I have to change something. Giving this a try, wish me luckRazz

Welcome to fatsecret. Try walking a few miles daily. Maybe cut back a bit on the beer and increase your water intake? You will find what works for you with trial and error. Good luck!

I can totally empathize with you. I'm 58 and it seems every few months a pound or two have snuck on to me and don't want to let go. I exercise and eat well, but my vice is wine. It's a habit to come home from work, sit down kick off the shoes and enjoy a glass or two. But i'm now at a weight that I need to get serious. So i'm on the wagon for 2 weeks on induction. I've made a deal with myself, for every 10 lbs lost, i'll treat myself to a bottle. It will slow down the loss for a day or two, but it's a goal and a prize, Good luck to you !!

Seems to me after 55 we have no metabolism! Used to drink my two beers a night to stay above 106 lbs! Boy those days are finished! Retired, quite smoking, had two back surgeries and now I look at anything to eat and drink and gain. Doesn't help that I can walk and swim but not much else! Hope you have a positive two weeks!!

What is the eating plan your doing mcims? We definitely have to eat different now, our body doesn't process food the same as our earlier years. I used to do the Atkins and lose 10 lbs the first week ,now i'm happy to lose 5.

Big cut in portion size, no two beers a night. Always ate a pretty balanced meal but I am trying to decrease the carbs a bit and add more vegetables and fruit. Staying at or below 1200 calories a day. Desserts have taken a hit also, 100 calories only.

good for you, when you say cutting out the carbs, i assume you mean the simple carbs, everything 'white' sugar, flour starches? I wouldn't go too much below 1200 a day, I read a good analagy once of the body burning food to a wood burning furnace. If you put in 10 logs 3 x a day you get 3 bursts of energy then the motor turns off and goes into a stall, but if you feed 1 or 2 logs about every 2 hours then the motor stays on and burn the fuel evenly . And that's what the body does. I tend to graze these days, eating a small protein and complex carb every few hours and I find I feel much better. Hard to get good healthy desserts at 100 calories, good luck
