Hi fellow dieters

Just a quick question I have Been on this diet now for just over a couple of weeks and have decided to stay in the induction phase for another week.

My weight loss has been great and I am pleased with myself and my determination.

The question I would like an answer to is how much are you allowed to eat in one sitting?

I have been guesstimating so far and it has worked (for me) but I still don't know how much meat or eggs you are supposed to eat.

I.e. for breakfast I would eat three fried eggs and three rashers of bacon ...... I am still hungry but have not eaten more than that. Then for lunch I would eat 4oz of chicken liver and two rashers of bacon......is this too much or too little.Question

You are supposed to be able to eat as much as you need to so you are not hungry. But you are also supposed to be eating vegetables and salads. If you eat too much, you will not lose weight. If you are in ketosis and losing weight, you could experiment with eating a little more.

I agree with eKatherine. You need to be eating vegetables!! I have such a hard time with getting enough vegetables in too so, I know it can be difficult.

As to your question about 'how much'... again, as eKatherine said, you should not be hungry if you are following the plan correctly. You basically eat until your are satisfied but not "stuffed".

I always start with a serving size of whatever I am eating and go from there. I weigh and measure everything I eat. It's kind of tedious but, it's what I do. I can't help it, lol. If I am still hungry, I eat more; if not, I don't. Usually. My eyes get bigger than my stomach sometimes or whatever I'm eating taste so good I want to keep eating it!!!

While Dr. Atkins says you can eat 'liberal' amounts of protein (meats,eggs), he is very clear that you MUST eat your vegetables (that's where most of your carbs should be coming from as opposed to say... condiments and sugar substitutes), drink your water (at least 8-8oz. cups a day), and exercise (even if it's just a walk around the block - which I don't do! ...yet!!!). Embarassed And... eat your fats, especially when you are having protein!!!

Have you checked out the new book New Atkins for New You? Also, the lessons on the atkins.com web site are very helpful. There are lists of acceptable foods for each phase. I printed them off and put on my fridge.
